During a recent promo on toofaced.com, I purchased Too Faced Matte Eyes. In addition to the relatively deep discount, Too Faced sent along three sample size products: Too Faced Lashgasm (that I’ll review another time), Shadow Insurance and Lip Insurance, Smoothing, Anti-Feathering Lip Primer.
About a year ago, I purchased Too Faced Shadow Insurance Color Correcting Eye Primer, and unfortunately, it was not a success for me. It migrated into my eyes and clouded my contact lenses. Boo. So I didn’t expect too much from the Lip Insurance.
Was I ever wrong! What a great product. It’s a relatively thick clear-ish gel that Too Faced calls “nude”, applied with a sponge tip doe-foot applicator. Once it’s on, not only does my lipstick not migrate, it lasts and lasts for hours, well beyond how long it would last without Lip Insurance. Lipstick still fades somewhat with eating, but it never disappears entirely. Many hours later, it still looks like I’m wearing lipstick. Here are my before and after pix (wearing Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Native, I think):
I still use a lip pencil to line my lips most of the time, but I am so impressed with how long my lipstick lasts when I wear Too Faced Lip Insurance. I’m so happy that, not only does it not dry out my lips like my “oldie but goodie” Sealed With A Kiss, but it has Vitamin E and it hydrates my lips, too. Other good news is that it’s free of parabens, sulfates and dyes.
From the reviews I’ve read, this product appears to be polarizing: it either works very well (my experience and that of others) or it doesn’t. On Sephora and Ulta websites, the product gets 4 out of 5 stars. So you may want to see if you can get a “sample” to try out before purchasing.
When my deluxe sample is finished, I intend to buy a full size. $19. Cruelty-free. Available at Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, beauty.com, skinstore.com, ebay, Shopstyle.com and on the Too Faced website, toofaced.com.

This product appears to be made for me. The older I get the thinner my lips have become. It seems I end up without lipstick just from talking these days. Thank you for reviewing this. It looks promising.
Laura, I was amazed at how well this product worked for me. I had been using Sealed With A Kiss on top of my lipstick and tho’ it worked pretty well, it dried out my already dry lips. Lip Insurance as a primer works much better and is actually fairly hydrating. Love it! Hope you have good luck with it if you try it!
This sounds great! It would be nice on days you want to skip using liner, or you don’t have one to match.

Yes, it could stand in for lipliner, but if you want a crisp line, I think liner still has a role. Definitely good if you don’t have a match!
I have never tried this before, I may have to try it.
Worth a try, Eugenia!
Ooo. This looks promising. Lip liner has been killing my lips as of late due to dryness so I’m going to give this a try.

That’s interesting that lipliner is drying for you. I thought I had the world’s driest lips, lol. Lip Insurance isn’t drying on me. I read a bunch of reviews before doing my post, and a few women said it was drying for them. Most said it was hydrating or neutral, and I’m doing fine with it so far.
I do own one of these but haven’t used it yet. I should get on to that.

How did I not know about this?! I am going to def try it! Thanks for the review Allison!

I absolutely love the TF Lip Insurance. It has worked wonders for me!

That’s great, Noelle! Always glad to hear from someone who also has good results 🙂
I still haven’t tried anything from Too Faced. This looks like something I should look into picking up
Too Faced is a wonderful brand. Love their La Creme lipsticks and their shadows too. Give TF a try!

I generally like Too Faced products, so I may try it and see if it’s for me!
It’s worth a look, Lisa. I and a few others who commented have had good luck with it.
I have a sample of this, but I’ve never tried it – now I must!

I was so glad I tried my sample, Destany. I don’t think I would’ve purchased it if I hadn’t tried it first. Love it now!
Sounds like a must have product if you are a lipstick lover.
I agree, Leelo!
I love primed & poreless! One of my faves!
LOL I totally typed too soon! I meant to say I love primed & poreless & the lip insurance!
I haven’t tried Primed & Poreless yet, Jess. I’ll have to put it on the list. Glad you like the Lip Insurance too!
I haven’t tried this but it looks great!

For me, it’s made a big difference, Jessica. I’m happy with it!
This sounds so awesome!
OHHHHH, that ‘Sealed With A Kiss’ stuff was nasty!!! It would get all peel-y and dry my lips out bad. I have been using Laura Geller’s or elf’s lip primers and they are sooo much friendlier. 🙂
That’s so funny, Kimberly, that you know Sealed With A Kiss. I guess I didn’t have quite as bad a time with it as you did. It generally worked and didn’t peel, but it definitely dried out my lips! Haven’t tried Laura Geller or elf but I’m glad that TF Lip Insurance works for me.
That’s a really light color, so I can imagine it would do even better with a darker, more pigmented lippie.. I hope! I love lipstains because of their staying power, but maybe I should try this to see if I can get some of my fave lippies that aren’t stains to hang around a little longer.

I was happy to get a sample to try, Nidia, otherwise I don’t know if I would have spent the money to try it. But it is definitely working for me regardless of the shade of lipstick, so I am sold!
this is pretty cool! I haven’t seen it before!
I never noticed it either, Laura. So happy that I got two winners with my TF palette purchase, yay!
This sounds like a really nice product, maybe i should try using it. Normally lipsticks just don’t stay well on me, because I lick my lips all the time.
Well, not sure how this will work if you lick your lips, Anastasia. But if it leaves color on my lips after an entire meal, maybe it will work even with lip licking 😉
I’ve never tried a lip primer but I think its time. would be so helpful to keep lipstick in place while traveling and on client visits
Yes, Angela, I think it would be great for those situations as well as just every day lipstick wearing!
I haven’t tried this yet. I keep trying to get my hands on it with my freebie sample, but its always sold out. This looks way cool
No kidding, Honey! I guess that means I’m not the only one who likes it! Hope you do get to try it. I was so happy to get a sample first 🙂

I purchased the Lip primer for a friend and she raves about it! Looks like I’m going to need to get one for myself 🙂
Oh yes, it’s worth a try, Miranda for yourself!
Oh I can relate w/ the feeling of cloudy vision! I had that recently when I tried L’Oreal eyeliner, I had to remove my contacts at work. I haven’t tried this product yet; sounds great ‘tho!
Yes, I’m putting together a list of products that migrate into my eyes so I remember to avoid them, so thanks for the info on the L’Oreal eyeliner. TF Lip Insurance is really good, however.
I tried a lip primer from Pop Beauty once and it did nothing for me, so I’ve kinda stayed away from this type of product. But this looks very promising, and definitely worth checking out on my next trip to Sephora. I could so use something that made my lipstick last longer.

Pop Beauty has fun colors, but I’m not so sure about the quality. The TF Lip Insurance works surprisingly well. Do check it out at Sephora.
Fantastic results!
Works better than anything else I’ve tried!
I’ve never tried their lip primer. But I am in a love affair with Too Faced lately.
haha! I don’t blame you 😉
I have always wanted to try out too faced but it never appeals to me a lot
We all have different brands that appeal to us, Betzy. Stick with what you like!
Oh, fun .. another lip liner for me to try 😉 I have one by Urban Decay and it’s meh .. which is why I was so happy to find the one from Milani.
Monica
This one is not so much a lip liner as a lip primer or lipstick extender, Monica. It really has helped my lipstick stay on hours longer than without it!
Wow, that is actually really impressive!
I’m really pleased with it, Kendra!
