When I bought my favorite perfume, Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle, a couple of years ago during Barney’s Fall Beauty Event, I qualified for their fabulous beauty bag of luxury cosmetics.
The items in the good sized dop kit-style bag (reviewed here) totaled well over $200. I’ve used most of the deluxe sample size and a couple of full size cosmetics since then. But a number of the samples became favorites, and over the couple of years since I got that initial Barney’s Beauty Bag, I’ve told you about several products that I feel strongly about. Here’s another one.
I received a deluxe sample size jar of MoroccanOil Body Soufflé in my Barney’s bag. However, I had seen the brand before. MoroccanOil is one of the haircare brands that my salon, Vidal Sassoon, sells to its customers. But Sassoon doesn’t use it on their customers, so I had no idea about how good MoroccanOil is till I got the sample of the Body Soufflé from Barney’s.
I would say that the unusual and highly appealing scent of the Fragrance Originale was what originally got me. The scent is floral, but it is married with a deep, nutty scent. Highly unusual and absolutely addicting IMO. I don’t usually like florals, but the nuttiness brings it to a new plane. The scent stays close to the skin, but it is very long-lasting. When I use this Body Soufflé, I skip the perfume.
The Body Soufflé is whipped and lightweight. It is formulated from argan oil and shea butter, but the whipping makes it look, at a distance, almost like meringue – it has “soft peaks”. When I apply it, it soaks in immediately, does not feel greasy, and it is hydrating for hours. It gives my skin a coated, protected feeling.
I haven’t tried it yet, but MoroccanOil has a Body Butter as well. Both the Soufflé and Body Butter come in three scents:
- Fragrance Originale that I am writing about
- Fleur d’Oranger
- Fleur de Rose.
One thing that sort of bugs me is that though the packaging is gorgeous – a large transparent heavy plastic tub that is tinted the signature “MoroccanOil aqua” to identify the Fragrance Originale, it is overpackaged, even though it is recyclable. Through the transparent aqua plastic, I can see the much smaller inner jar that holds the product. Why do that? The tub holds 6.4 fl.oz./190 ml that is still a fair amount.
At $56, MoroccanOil Body Soufflé is a splurge, at least for me it is. But it’s wonderful stuff that I truly enjoy luxuriating in from time to time! And you can buy the travel size (1.5 oz.) on its own for about $20 or in travel collections with other MoroccanOil products. The Body Soufflé can be purchased on the MoroccanOil website, at Barney’s, at Sephora, Nordstrom, and lots of other retailers.

I JUST opened a travel-sized tub of this. It’s very runny – I had expected it to be thicker. Let’s see how it goes!

The consistency is somewhere between an oil and a lotion. I’m not sure it should be “runny”, though. But it is very hydrating the way an oil is. MoroccanOil has a Body Butter but this isn’t it! LMK what you think? Do you like the scent?
I need the orange scent!

I received a tube of their hand cream, and it smells absolutely divine. I wonder if this is the same scent – I would love it!!

Oh, hand cream?? I must try it! I’m sure it must be the Fragrance Originale!
I didn’t realize that they made a body souffle. The product sounds nice and the packaging looks really nice too!
MoroccanOil Body Souffle is such a lovely treat! I didn’t expect to fall in love with such a pricey body product, lol
It looks so luxurious. I liked the original MoroccanOil for my hair which did surprise me but I think this would be stronger than I could use. It’s great when a sample becomes a favorite.
The scent is definitely a strong one, so I would suspect that the body products would be too much for you. But yes, how nice when a sample becomes a favorite – though I wish this wasn’t such a pricey one 😉
This body souffle looks amazing! it’s been a while since I last used Moroccanoil products but I have good memories of my experience.

So glad that you have some, and that you’re a fan, too, Helen!!
This sounds pretty amazing! I had a hand cream from this range and loved it, so I can see this being just as nice.
Now I need to try the hand cream! I just love the scent
I love everything by Moroccanoil!
