Last night, we were invited to our friends’ home for dinner. It was a hot night, almost 90 degrees, and we had spent the afternoon at the beach. It definitely put me in a summery mood. I pulled out a pair of shorts and an aqua polka dot T-shirt that goes with my aqua Sofft sandals. Next was makeup – what to choose?
I’ve been wearing neutrals and muted purples almost constantly so I needed a change. Then I remembered a green shadow quad that I received just after the Oscars from BeYu Cosmetics. BeYu Cosmetics had recreated some of the looks of the stars – Rachel McAdams, Kerry Washington, Gaga – with their own products, an interesting concept.
BeYu is a brand that’s completely new to me. I had never heard of it before. It’s a German brand, started in 1999, manufactured according to EU standards with no animal testing. The brand is sold in Europe, but it’s available in 30 countries worldwide, and I guess they’re making more of a move in the U.S. The products are dermatologically tested, good for sensitive skin and they’re fragrance free. BeYu Cosmetics offers a full range of makeup as well as nail products. They also make eyeglasses! Check out the BeYu Cosmetics website to see for yourself.
Here’s how the company describes itself:
“BeYu travels around the world and picks up special moods, impulses and trends from popular cities and their scene quarters. Inspired by this, BeYu develops new cosmetic products.”
Sounds good to me. If I can’t travel the world (much as I’d like to), I’m glad they can!
The BeYu Color Catch Eye Palette 3484.303 is very pretty. The shades don’t have names, but here are my descriptions:
- glacial white: a bright metallic white
- greened gold: pale gold mixed with a touch of green
- grass green: shimmer
- deep green matte: the color of money.
The shadows are ultra soft, go on like a breeze and are easy to blend. I wore them over primer, and they didn’t crease at all. The shadows had just the right amount of understated shimmer for me. I wore the greened gold in the inner corner, the grass green on my lid and the deep green matte in the V. I think green shadows work well with my blue eyes and bright red hair.
The shadows can be applied wet or dry. The quad comes in a small black plastic case that’s good for toting around. It has a double-sided applicator that I didn’t use. The Color Catch Eye Palette comes in several different color coordinated options with lots of neutral choices if green’s not your thing.
In addition, BeYu Cosmetics sent along an eye pencil: Soft Liner 667, a turquoise shade, that’s easy to use and is long lasting as well as a Soft Liner 588, a gorgeous, creamy shell pink that I use as a lip liner but could be used on your eyes too.
BeYu Cosmetics are positioned as “midrange” affordably-priced cosmetics. I’m definitely impressed with the quality of the products I’ve tried. They sort of remind me of essence cosmetics, but a step up. I found several of the BeYu Cosmetics on Amazon (see below) though not this lovely eyeshadow quad. The website says something about distributors. If you have seen BeYu Cosmetics in stores or salons near you or know if they’re sold via independent distributors, let me know! 🙂 ADDENDUM: After publishing this review, I was told that BeYu Cosmetics are sold on CVS.com, yay!
