It’s frickin’ freezing here! This afternoon, it was 8 degrees. The temperature warning light for my tires came on in my car, and after I had air put in all my tires, the light went back on again on the way home. It’s that cold. The temperature is going down to minus 3 tonight, and we’re not even talking windchill.
So when it’s seriously cold and dry outside, I don’t want matte lipstick on my already dry lips. I need something hydrating. Lip gloss. Cushiony, rich lip gloss.
I went overboard with cosmetics purchases during the run up to the holidays when everything was on sale. In order to keep my Platinum status at Ulta for next year, I needed to add to my order during the pre-holiday sale. Honestly, I was at the checkout and I ran back to pick up something to put me over the top. I ran over to the Anastasia Beverly Hills shelves and quickly picked out a lip gloss. I cannot wear the Anastasia liquid lipsticks, even the one named after me – Allison – that’s sold at Sephora. I went for lip gloss instead.
Can you believe Anastasia Beverly Hills makes 53 shades of lip gloss? Thank goodness at Ulta, there were only 20 shades to choose from, because I had to make a decision fast. I chose Caramel, a pinky brown neutral shade that I think has a bit of peach in it too. Although Anastasia lip gloss is scented with vanilla, it smells like butterscotch to me while I’m applying it. It doesn’t retain the scent on my lips.
The wand has a somewhat long, rather thin, flat sponge applicator that curves up at the tip. I find the shape of the wand easier to use than many others.
I love the ABH lip gloss itself! It’s opaque. I strongly prefer opaque to a sheer lipgloss because I often wear lip gloss alone (though Caramel looks great atop regular lipstick). The color stays for hours because it gives a stain to the lips. It’s super shiny as a gloss should be. The gloss is creamy and hugs my lips. Yet, it’s not messy or overly gooey. In fact, it seems less sticky to me than other lip glosses. Today was windy as well as frigid when I went out to do errands, and I didn’t end up with hair stuck to my lips. Yay.
I’m very happy with Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Caramel. It’s priced at $16 for 0.16 oz., and next time there’s a sale, I’ll pick up another shade.
I know everyone’s into matte lipsticks, but have you tried ABH Lip Gloss?
