I’ve been posting announcements of Estée Lauder gifts with purchase at various department stores for months now. Guess it’s about time that I reviewed some of the Estée Lauder products!
Let’s start today with Estée Lauder Advanced Time Zone Age-Reversing Line/Wrinkle Creme SPF 15. I received this deluxe sample, called “a 14 day supply”, a couple of months ago in my gift with purchase from Macy’s when I picked up the adorable hot pink Lilly Pulitzer summer tote. I don’t use this moisturizer every day so it’s lasted me way more than 14 days. And it sure was a good size sample because I’ve used it way more than 14 times!
As you can see, Estée Lauder Advanced Time Zone comes in a jar. Although I love jars for their convenience and for some reason I like to see the cream, it isn’t the best packaging for products with anti-aging ingredients. They tend to lose their potency when exposed to the air. Also, it is important to make sure that your hands are clean or you scoop from the jar with a clean/new cosmetic scoop to avoid contaminating the cream in the jar.
I find the Advanced Time Zone daytime moisturizer to be a fairly lightweight white cream. It goes on easily, is readily absorbed, and is comfortable to wear. I often wear it on hot humid days on its own, or as a lightweight moisturizer under my BB cream.
It has a light floral scent that disappears when it’s on my face. I typically don’t like a fragrance, especially a floral fragrance, in my facial moisturizer. But I really only smell it for a few seconds when I apply it, so it’s a non-issue.
Advanced Time Zone has SPF 15, and I usually prefer SPF 30 for my fair, sun damaged skin. ATZ is a broad spectrum moisturizer, meaning it provides protection against both UVA rays that prematurely age the skin with wrinkles and age spots and UVB rays that can burn the skin. That’s a good thing. The active ingredients that provide the sun protection are chemical sunscreens: Avonbenzone 3.00%, Octinoxaate 7.50%, Octisalate 5.00%. I typically prefer physical sunscreens like titanium or zinc oxide, but the benefits of the ingredients in Advanced Time Zone are that I don’t get “white face” and the moisturizer is lighterweight and more easily absorbed than moisturizers with physical sunscreen ingredients.
So will I purchase Advanced Time Zone now that I’ve almost used it up? I don’t think so. The SPF 30 really is a deal-breaker for me in a daytime facial moisturizer. But Advanced Time Zone Age-Reversing Line/Wrinkle Creme SPF 15 is a very nice moisturizer if SPF 15 is enough for you.
Estée Lauder Advanced Time Zone Age-Reversing Line/Wrinkle Creme SPF 15 contains 1.7 fl. oz. and costs $65. It is widely available at department stores in the U.S., Sephora, and at many online cosmetics sites as well as through the Estée Lauder website.
