I was inspired by a mani that I saw on Facebook to create my own version of what I’m calling my fairy princess mani. Maybe it’s more appropriate for an 8 year old, but I don’t care. I love it, and I think it’s so pretty, sparkly and girly.
After applying my usual Revlon ColorStay base coat, I applied two coats of essie Spaghetti Strap. Spaghetti Strap is a great shade for a French manicure. Frankly, it was a little sheerer than I actually wanted. I may look for a cream in shell pink for the next time.
Then I applied clear polish in a random pattern with a fan brush at the base of my nail using an inexpensive little nail tools kit – Fing’rs Art Box Extreme Nail Art Kit – that I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond for $7.99, and I used my 20% off coupon to buy it.
Next, I cleaned off the fan brush, dipped the brush in Splash Nail Art Glitter and applied it over the clear polish.
Finally, I applied Deborah Lippmann Topcoat.
The mani lasted more than a week, and I hated to take it off!
What do you think? Can I pull it off? Would you wear it?

Oh this is pretty! I love me a lil’ sparkle 🙂
I’m a real sparkle fan, too!
I think it looks really pretty. It might be a little too dressy for every day, but it’s a great weekend and/or special occasion look.
Thank you, Liz! Once I put it on, I couldn’t take it off I liked it so much. So it went with me to the supermarket, to the beach and digging in the garden lol
Cute mani! I love me some glitter!!!

me too, Judy!
This is such a lovely soft look, appropriate for work or a wedding or wherever. It’s a great palate cleanser of a manicure!

Wow, I love that metaphor, Jessica: “palate cleanser of a manicure”…fabulous!
Yes, this looks great! I was surprised to see that the sparkles polish .. was actually a glitter!
Do you think that glitters are easier to apply than sparkle/glitter nail polish?
Monica.
Yes, it is, Monica! I placed a paper towel underneath everything while I painted it on, and cleanup was a breeze!
Love it!
Thanks, Leigh!
This looks super pretty. And definitely something that I can do!

I hope you do, Jamie! Would love to see your version 🙂
That is so pretty and sophisticated – it would be perfect on brides!
Yes, I think it would be a good bridal look. Great idea, Sheila. Wish I knew a bride!
Very sparkly! Does indeed look like a princess mani 🙂

Very cute mani. I like this kind of simple manicures with a little bling.
I can’t do fancy manis, Leelo, so this is about it, lol
I love this! So simple and sparkly!
Thanks, Noelle!
They turned out very pretty
Thank you, Betzy!
I love how a little glitter can make a mani a little more glam!
I agree, Eugenia!
love the glitter detail! <3
Thank you, Laura!

I think I’ll do something like that on my latest manicure toward the end of the week. It’s a cute way to change things even if I have two left hands!
It’s super-easy, Marcia. I couldn’t do it otherwise. Although, as a lefty, I wish I had two left hands, lol! Love to see what you come up with!
I like it and I think you can pull it off! It’s a subtle way of wearing glitter and it looks a heck a lot easier to remove
You’re right, Mai. It was easier to remove than an entire hand of glitter!
I honestly LOVE this look. I’ve tried to do this but it always comes out so messy

Did you use a fan brush, Miranda? I’m mani-challenged so I was amazed it came out so well. It wasn’t that difficult for me, fortunately
Ooooh it’s gorgeous- I love sparkles!
Thanks, Justina!
I love this – not only for the way it looks, but for the way it made you feel. You are a fairy princess! 🙂

Thank you, Brooke. I may see if I can find a cream rather than a translucent shade for next time to see the difference in the look.
Love the sparkle!

Thanks, Lisa 🙂
Cute. I like that you named it a fairy princess mani, since it’s light, airy and sparkly.
Actually, Polarbelle, I cheated. My cousin’s wife added the “fairy” to the princess mani, and I stole it 😉
That’s cute!
