This past Christmas season, I got a chance to try the Zuzu Luxe Holiday Palette from Gabriel Cosmetics (review and holiday look here). It’s such a great glam face and eye palette in a beautiful compact.
I also like the regular Gabriel Cosmetics line, and so far, I’ve tried the Liquid Foundation (reviewed here) and lipstick (reviewed here). So I was eager to try the eye makeup. I was sent the Smokey Matte Grey Eyeshadow Trio, shades that are absolutely perfect for me.
The shades don’t seem to have names, but they appear to be ivory, charcoal and mushroom.
I must mention how much I like the portability of the packaging for this little trio. It’s the perfect size to pop into my purse for travel or just for whenever. So handy!
Although it’s called a Smokey eye trio, I kinda did my own thing. A smokey eye is just too much eye makeup for me to wear. I applied the ivory shade under my brow and in the inner corner, the charcoal in the crease and V, and the mushroom in the center of my eyelid. The shadows were nicely pigmented – especially the mushroom and charcoal, and they all blended very easily. There was no fallout. I applied them more than 6 hours ago over Urban Decay Anti-aging Eye Primer, and the shades are still going strong.
In addition to enhancing my blue eye color, these shades are perfect for evening (a smokey eye for those of you who can wear it) as well as for wearing to work. This matte grey palette would look great with a suit! Even with my mostly stay-at-home lifestyle these days, I know I’ll get a lot of use from this trio that appear to be created with me in mind. 🙂
Here’s the look I created with the Gabriel Eyeshadow Trio:
Face
DermaMD Uplifting Face & Neck Creme
Lumene Time Freeze Instant Lift Serum
Lumene CC Cream in shade Light
Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Blush in Feather
Eyes
Urban Decay Anti-aging Eye Primer
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Zero, tightline and outer lower waterline
Gorgeous Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil in Miss G, olive green, lid and outer lower lashline
Gabriel Cosmetics Smokey Matte Grey Eyeshadow Trio
CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara
Lips
Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Liner, Ozone, transparent
Too Faced La Creme Lipstick, Cinnamon Kiss
In addition to Smokey Matte Grey, the Gabriel Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio is also available in two other shade families that you might prefer:
Each trio, net weight 3.2 g/0.112 oz is priced at $24.50. They are also gluten-free.
Gabriel Cosmetics makes natural and organic makeup and skincare. The products are vegan and cruelty-free and proudly display the Leaping Bunny logo. They do not use synthetic chemicals or synthetic preservatives like parabens. Gabriel Cosmetics are widely available in health food stores including Whole Foods and other retailers, on Amazon, and on the Gabriel Cosmetics website.

You’re so sweet, Helen! Altho I’m a cool-toned gal and these greys work well with my blue eyes, I do stray into warm territory coz the red hair helps me go both ways, lol.
I love this eyelook you created. I love matte shades I think they look fab. I haven’t tried any gabreil makeup but I sure want to after reading this:) Thanks for sharing:) x

Thank you, Kirsty! Gabriel Cosmetics is a wonderful natural and organic, cruelty-free, vegan brand that’s definitely worth getting to know 🙂
Glad to hear that the formula held up for many hours, fallout is always a huge problem for me.
I also expect fallout from powder shadows but I really didn’t have any with this little trio 🙂
Such a smart trio of shadows. Perfect for travel. Love the look you created with it.

I love matte shadows and will definitely check out Gabriel Smokey Eyes Matte Trio. The cheek blush looks good on you. So pretty 🙂 Thanks for doing this review.
Thank you so much, Sharon. Gabriel Cosmetics is a wonderful, natural and organic, vegan, cruelt-free brand that is so worth getting to know. And I love my new blush from Tarina Tarantino too!
Those shadows look like nice matte creamy shades. Really are lovely on you. That blush!!!! Just as beautiful as I thought it would be on you!
Thank you again, Laura! I ADORE the blush and I will do a post specifically about it soon 🙂 The shadow palette is a really great one for me. I’ll use it a lot.
That is such a nice trio! It looks awesome on you!

Thank you so much, Leigh!
I love that there is no fall out! I like how you chose to use them – I never follow the rules on palettes like that either lol!

Thank you, Judy! I was surprised how much I like this palette, and the no fallout is a plus. I had gotten away from grey shades, but they really work with blue eyes 🙂
So pretty! I wanted to add, I have Too Faced Cinnamon Kiss, and it looks so different on me – looks much much nicer on you! 🙂

Thank you, Pavithra, for your comment! You are right that shades can look so different on different people! Too Faced Cinnamon Kiss is a good neutral shade for me because it has some orange and maybe a little pink in it. Some nude lipsticks make me look like a corpse. Probably ones that look great on you wouldn’t flatter me 😉
Beautiful look! I absolutely love your eyemakeup!

Thank you so much, Leelo! It’s more eye makeup than I usually wear, but it’s fun for a change 🙂
I just got the Smokey Shimmer one and can’t wait to use it. This is a great addition to Gabriel. I love the look of the matte one.
Oh, I’m eager to see how you use it, Marcia! I am mostly a matte girl, though I could easily at a little pearl or shimmer to the middle of my lid with this one. It’s a good quality little trio!
What a great staple trio.
Definitely, great for everyday or for work
Your face! I had to catch my breath when I saw your picture!–just BEAUTIFUL!!!
This makes me want to wear shadow again.
I’m still trying to get the CoverGirl supersizer mascara. It hasn’t arrived in East Texas, yet.
Oh, you are so wonderful to say that, Jane! Sometimes I hesitate posting those big photos of my face at this stage of the game. Thank you! For me, it’s become a necessity to wear at least some eye shadow because I have blepharitis which gives me red, inflamed-looking eye lids and sockets. I actually look better with some eye makeup on! I hadn’t been wearing greys lately, and this little trio made me realize I should wear them more often! Regarding the CoverGirl SuperSizer Mascara, I haven’t seen it around here yet, but Shopsense/Shopstyle that’s at the bottom of this post was selling it 2 for around $11 which is a good deal but then there’s shipping, I guess. Now, I really love the CG Supersizer. Some other bloggers did like it as much as I did. I use it every, single day now unless I have to test out something else. I just use it like any other mascara and ignore the directions. It does have a small wand (like the Too Faced Lashgasm wand) and if you prefer the big fluffy wands, you may not like it. But it really suits me 🙂 Hope you have a great Memorial weekend in East Texas, Jane!!
The perfect little trio! Love the look you created!
Thank you, Jess! They really turned out to be great shades for me 🙂
I am in love with these colors. These are my go to daily colors. I add a pop of purple or green or whatever I feel like in the outer or inner corners. It depends how sassy I’m feeling. Great look!

Love the eye look!! This sure looks pigmented and soft! <3
Thank you, Shipra! It’s a great little palette. I forgot how much I like greys, and these were easy to blend and long-lasting 🙂
I’ve never used this brand before, but I think I need to find them.. I love a neutral trio, and boy howdy, did these colors make your blue eyes POP. No one could resist those baby blues!
Nidia – Lit From Within recently posted…Sea and (Vitamin) C moisturizer!
Thank you, Nidia, you are so sweet to say that! You should check out Gabriel Cosmetics next trip to Whole Foods. All 3 of the neutral trios including the two Shimmer trios look beautiful. And they are easily blendable, have no fallout, last a long time (at least on my dry lids), and the compact is super portable plus cruelty-free natural vegan etc etc. Great brand!
Packaging reminds me of L’Oreal or Maybelline. I maybe wrong but I know I’ve seen exactly the same design.
Kath TheFabZilla recently posted…Skincare Travel Essentials
You’re right, Kathryne, but it may be Almay. I thought the same thing, and I was a little surprised that Gabriel made their trio look so similar since they are natural, vegan, cruelty-free, more expensive, and better quality than Almay or whichever drugstore brand the packaging is like!
I don’t think I know this brand, but the shadows look great. I love he mushroom-taupe shade.
Me, too, Bailey, the mushroom/taupe is my favorite. Not sure whether Gabriel Cosmetics is sold in Whole Foods and other health food stores in Canada or not. Hopefully yes, coz it’s a very good brand.
I love smokey eyes! those colours look fab on you!!! xx

Is it Revlon or Almay that it looks like, or both? I thought the same thing, and I was a little surprised that Gabriel made their trio look so similar since they are natural, vegan, cruelty-free, more expensive, and better quality than Revlon/Almay!
I have a Revlon palette from this year’s summer collection that looks a LOT like this palette. It’s indeed nice to have a cheaper alternative that performs so well.
Kiss & Make-up recently posted…Review | Phyto Plage âLâOriginaleâ Huile Protectrice
I think that Revlon is the cheaper alternative but the shades on both palettes are great cool-toned neutrals. What I like about Gabriel Cosmetics is that they are natural and often made with organic ingredients, cruelty-free and vegan 🙂
That’s a pretty look!
Thank you 🙂
I haven’t heard of this brand but the palette looks just like those Neutrogena ones!
Is it Neutrogena or Almay, Miranda? I thought the same thing, and I was a little surprised that Gabriel made their trio look so similar since they are natural, vegan, cruelty-free, and more expensive than either Neutrogena or Almay!
Super nice on you! The shape the palette comes in reminds me of the Almay palettes, I think. The eye shaped ones?

I agree, Justina. I thought the same thing, and I was a little surprised that Gabriel made their trio look so similar since they are natural, vegan, cruelty-free, and more expensive than Almay!
What a gorgeous look you created! This looks like a fabulous trio for traveling too! You can do a slightly dramatic smokey eye, or play it down for a nice day time neutral look
Thank you very much, Lisa 🙂 I think it’s a handily little palette. And I forgot how much I like grays 🙂 Have a good weekend!
I really like the look you put together with this trio. It’s so pretty & defining. The pairing with the peachy lip is fun too. 🙂
Thank you so much, Natalie, and thanks for taking the time to tell me! I need to use these grays more often, now that I have them. I forgot how much I like this combo 🙂 Hope you have a good Memorial Weekend!!
What a beautiful look! I have to try this brand soon. And, talk about flawless skin. Wow!
Thank you so much, Valerie! Next time you go to Whole Foods, definitely check out Gabriel Cosmetics. I like everything I’ve tried from the brand
Looks great for travel!
