When they first came out, I wrote about Almay Softies. I had picked up Smoke, and over time, I found myself reaching for it often as a crease or V shade in an everyday look. Some time later, I picked up Petal, a beautiful matte pink, and I use that shade all the time for my everyday looks. So pretty!
I had a couple of CVS Extrabucks when I went to CVS to pick up probiotics. I thought I needed a treat since I was feeling under the weather. Almay had a buy one, get one 50% off deal, so I picked up Peach Fuzz and Vintage Grape, both mattes.
Peach is a great shade for blue eyes. Since it’s at the opposite on the color wheel, it makes blue eyes pop. I expected Vintage Grape to be a deeper shade since they have a lighter Lilac. So I’m a tiny bit disappointed but I’ll play around with it some more and it’s possible that once I really work the surface, I’ll be able to build up more and deeper color. Also, the swatches below are on bare skin. Mostly, I use them over primer if I’m wearing them on their own.
If somehow these have eluded you, they are semi-sheer but buildable shadows that are similar to the Milani Bella Eyes that came out after the Almay Softies. They are creamy-ish and cushiony. They’re best applied by patting them on with a finger, but they do blend somewhat.
They make a good base or a nice everyday eye shadow. Obviously, I like the Softies since I’ve bought 4 of them, and Cashmere, a buttery pale yellow/beige is next on my list.
There are 11 colors in a mix of mattes and subtle shimmers, and Almay Softies are priced at about $5 each. They’re widely available at drugstores and Walmart. And if you’re sensitive to dimethicone, skip these 😉
Do you own any of the Almay Softies?
