Another Christmas has come and gone. Christmas started out in the early morning with rain that turned to 3 inches of snow, and then around noon the sun came out. Everything looked so pretty, like a postcard of New England in the winter. The plows came out in the nick of time, and we were able to go to my cousin’s wife’s Christmas dinner and celebration. She is always so sweet to invite her husband’s Jewish family to celebrate with her!
We always do a Yankee swap, but this year JoAnn changed the rules. Usually we play that you choose a gift, open it and then decide if you want to keep it or swap. This year, JoAnn added what she called “an element of risk”: when it was your turn, you had to decide if you wanted to take someone else’s gift or take a chance by choosing a wrapped gift and be stuck with it. I decided to take a risk, and I got the only joke gift in the lot: a Talking Larry the Lobster wall plaque. Ugh. But other than that, we had a very fun day.
How about you? Did you have a nice day? Did you have a White Christmas where you are?
So this is vacation week for some, and that means a little more time to take it easy…maybe.
