A while ago, I was asked to try some skincare products from SimySkin.
SimySkin is a brand I was unfamiliar with at the time, but I’ve become impressed as I learn more about it. I’ve been trying to find out about the origin of their name, but no luck. It’s certainly unusual! But I digress! SimySkin’s corporate mission is age-based beauty. We all know that our skin changes dramatically at different times of our lives. SimySkin developed product lines formulated with Vitamin B12 to reduce the effect of time, environment and stress on the skin. Importantly, SimySkin works with an oncologist to help determine the effect of each ingredient used in the formulation of the Company’s anti-aging products, and to learn what kinds of ingredients to leave out of their products.
SimySkin recommends products from their product lineup based on which age range you’re in:
SimySkin makes cleansers, toners, moisturizer, masks, and scrubs in addition to a number of different serums. They sent me three serums that are recommended for age 45+: Eye, Face and Neck & Decolletage serums.
Serum Anti-age Eye Serum
The SimySkin Anti-age Eye Serum that I received (see below) is not listed on the product page at this time so I am assuming that they have renamed and repackaged the eye serum.
My serum mentions contouring whereas the current one talks about decreasing puffiness and dark circles so I’m not sure they’re the same. The one that I received has a metal ball at the top that can be used to apply the eye serum and help contour the eye area. The current version of their eye serum called Triple Effect Eye Serum does not have this feature.
The serum is a pale yellow liqui-serum that is easily absorbed by the skin around my eyes. It sinks in and driers quickly. I use it prior my regular eye gel. I’ve been using it for about a month. I can’t tell as yet if it is adding firmness, but I’ll continue to use it to see if it adds to my eye gel in terms of benefits.
Because I’m not sure if this is the same formula as the current eye serum, I won’t list ingredients or price.
“A repair serum that visibly reduces wrinkles, firms and evens the skin tone. Active ingredients are designed to reduce wrinkles at every stage of maturation and provide anti-oxidant to prevent skin damage based on environmental stress. The Microencapsulation process provides a lifting effect on skin which reduces facial appearance of fine lines.” $58, 1 oz./30 ml
Special ingredients and benefits:
- Antio-oxidant beta-cartone is one of the unique ingredients that protects against sun and oxidative damage, it also an anti-oxidant.
- Plantago Lanceolata Leaf and Chlamydosypsa extract, powerful anti-aging ingredients, slow down and repair signs of aging.
I’ve been using this face serum for about a month. It’s a very pleasant serum because it sinks in immediately. The company claims modest effects for the serum after 8 weeks: greater hydration, firmness, wrinkles that are less deep. So far, my face feels more hydrated and a little firmer. I’m going to stick with it.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Sinorhizobium meliloti ferment filtrate, Maltodextrin, Benzyl alcohol, Butylene glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Plantago lanceolata (English Plantain) leaf extract, Sodium hydroxide, Hibiscus sabdariffa (Roselle) flower extract, Parfum, Salicylic acid, Folic acid, Glycine soja oil, Cetyl hydroxyethylcellulose, Lecithin, Carbomer, Sorbic acid, Methylglucoside phosphate, Ubiquinone, Citric acid, Polysorbate 20, Copper lysinate/prolinate, Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzoate, Xanthan gum, Chlamydocapsa extract, Trisodium EDTA, Tocopherol, Cyanocobalamin, Daucus carota sativa (Carrot) root extract, Beta-carotene, Polyvinyl alcohol, Palmitoyl tripeptide-1, Lactic acid, Glycolic acid, Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl heptapeptide-18, Palmitoyl hexapeptide-52, Butylphenyl methylpropional, Hexyl cinnamal, Linalool, alpha-Isomethyl ionone, Limonene, Geraniol, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde
A “non-greasy neck and décollétage serum tightens skin surface as it helps lift and firm skin for a more defined profile. Ingredients target the loose, sagging skin along the jaw and neckline. These ingredients are powerful and work together to reduce crepiness, intensely hydrate, and promote cell regeneration and skin elasticity.” $58, 1 fl. oz./30 ml
Special ingredients and benefits:
- In addition to beta-cartone described in the Face serum, this serum contains Essenkin. an active ingredient that promotes skin density, firmness, elasticity and smoothness.
- Palmitoyl Oligopeptide helps collagen production and reduces appearance of wrinkles, sagging and uneven skin tone.
SimySkin makes what I’d call huge claims about increasing density and firmness after using this serum for 8 weeks. Like the other two serums, I’ve been using this for about 4 weeks. I use a neck cream from another brand in addition to this. My neck skin does seem improved versus using the neck cream alone. I will definitely stick with this.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Pullulan, Benzyl alcohol, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Butylene glycol, Sodium hydroxide, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Hibiscus sabdariffa (Roselle) flower extract, Pentylene glycol, Parfum (Fragrance), Salicylic acid, Folic acid, Glycine soja oil, Polysorbate 20, 3-Aminopropane sulfonic acid, Calcium hydroxymethionine, Carbomer, Ubiquinone, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sorbic acid, Cyanocobalamin, Daucus carota sativa (Carrot) root extract, Beta-carotene, Palmitoyl tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, Tocopherol, Butylphenyl methylpropional, Hexyl cinnamal, Linalool, alpha-Isomethyl ionone, Limonene, Geraniol, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde
All three of the serums are fragrance-free. They also are without Parabens, Mineral Oil, Synthetic Colors, Sulfate. They are gender-neutral. Made in France.
So far, I really like the three serums I’m using. The clinical results the website gives are based on two months of use, and I’m only half way there. I have seen some results so far. All three are lightweight and very pleasant to use. They are on the pricey side, so I hope I’ll see some more dramatic changes especially with the neck serum where I have seen some positive changes so far.
The “age-based” brand positioning is a little weird, truth be told. Surprisingly, the website breaks down the age ranges into 4 categories, but they seem to offer a lot of products that are for any age like the hydration mask, some of the cleansers. The products that do have an age range are 25-45 and 45+ so the ones for 25-45 are also recommended for 18-25 year olds, and the 45+ are for anyone over 45. I think they need to change the website to fit with their product line!
But I would say I’m happy with these serums 🙂 Check out SimySkin and its entire product line on their website where their products are sold.
