I love subscription boxes but I only have experience with a few of them. So I was thrilled when the October Beauty Box 5 arrived in the mail at the end of last week!
The theme of the box adopts the famous phrase by famed fashion designer of the 1940s-50s Elsa Schiaparelli, “Think Pink”. It’s the perfect fit for Breast Cancer Awareness & Research Month. Not surprisingly, everything in the box was a different shade of pink. I think it’s great that BB5 participated in this important campaign.
Beauty Box 5 arrived in a small aqua box with the Beauty Box 5 logo. No makeup bag, but that’s fine since I have sooooo many. The 5 products were nestled inside on pink shred. Included in the box is a cute and very informative card that:
- announces the monthly theme
- describes each product in the box
- gives the price of the product
- identifies the products that are full size.
I can’t tell you how handy that little card is! No need to go and search the website looking for product information. Brilliant! Thank you BB5, so thoughtful! 😀
So what did I get in my cute little aqua box?
HappyFace Makeup Cleansing Cloth
How did BB5 know that I was desperately looking for a soft item to use for washing my face? I can’t use my Soniclear Elite every day and Ulta discontinued the sponges that I like so what to do? This innovative cleansing cloth is just perfect!
HappyFace Makeup Cleansing Cloth has been designed not only to help wash your face but to remove your makeup! I haven’t tried it yet as a makeup remover, but I will. As a facial cleansing cloth, it’s fabulous. It is sooooo soft. It’s machine washable. And it dries in no time. I adore it! Price: $3.99. Full size
Knotty Hair Ties
I know I’m behind the times. I’ve never tried hair ties. I have a million covered rubber bands but no hair ties. I received two hair ties from Knotty in different shades of pink. They’re very soft. They don’t leave an indentation in my hair like rubber bands do. My hair doesn’t get twisted around the hair ties like it does with rubber bands. And they’re prettier and more comfortable to wear around my wrist when not in my hair. Great invention! Price: $4.00. At $2 each, they are certainly more expensive than a card full of coated rubber bands but they’re much nicer. I better not lose them. Full size
Styli-Style Perfect Pout Lip Balm
I’m in love with this raspberry shade lip balm! I haven’t stopped wearing it since I opened the box. It is a very hydrating balm. But the best part is that the color is almost opaque. I have so many lip balms where the color is almost non-existent on my lips. Because I am relatively pale, I need some color on my face even if I’m just hanging around the house so I don’t scare myself when I look in the mirror. The one I received is called Bold Berry, a raspberry shade. I need to get a couple more of these lip balms in other shades. Price: $4.99. Well worth it!
Ferro Cosmetics Pink Rhinestone Kabuki Brush
This travel size pink-tipped bristle, rhinestone-studded kabuki brush is the cutest thing! And it’s one of the softest brushes I own. I believe the bristles are synthetic. It has become my brush of choice for applying powder. Price: $25 I probably would not have spent that much on a makeup brush because I’m so frugal. So thank you sooooo much, BB5, for this soft, high quality makeup brush. I love it!
Nubar Nail Polish Mini
What an adorable little nail polish in Pinktober, a bubblegum pink! I’ve never used 3-free, natural, non-toxic, vegan Nubar polish before so I’m eager to give it a try. The price of the sample size bottle is $4.99, and the full size on the Nubar website is $8.40.
My Thoughts on the Box
Wow, I loved this box! I got 4 out of 5 full size products! (I don’t know if that’s indicative of most months, but I’m glad I got the October box!) And I will definitely use every single item in the box! Plus pink 😉
The value of the box is $43! So it’s worth much more than the cost of the box. Nice.
How to Get Your Own Beauty Box 5
First, check out beautybox5.com for all the details. Beauty Box 5 sends you 5 beauty-related samples every month: a mix of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products. The samples – a mix of deluxe sample size and full size – are from luxury, drugstore, niche, eco-conscious, and vegan brands so you get to try out a wide variety of beauty products. Also, I checked on the website to get an idea of the brands that participate, and they do represent a wide variety of brands including brands that don’t seem to participate in another subscription box I’m familiar with so I’ll get to try new brands, yay!
What amazed me is that there are a number of ways to subscribe to Beauty Box 5. You can do it monthly for $12 a box. Or you can sign up for a quarterly subscription in which you pay $30 for three boxes, one per month so you save $6 off the month by month fee. Or you can go for the big savings and pay $99 for a year’s worth of Beauty Box 5 boxes! A $45 savings! US subscribers get free shipping on every option. To ship to Canada, there is a $3 shipping fee.
If you sign up by the 21st of the month, you’ll get the current month’s box, or the next month’s box if you sign up after the 21st.
Since the holidays are just around the corner, you can gift Beauty Box 5! You have a choice of 3 monthly boxes for $30, 6 months for $60 or a year for $99. I can tell you I’d be thrilled to receive the 3 month subscription, a fabulous but affordable gift!
