You may remember me writing about gorgeous apparel and home decor designed by impressionist artist, Constance Festo Lafond, whom I met several years ago. Here’s Connie (wearing one of her creations below!) in her studio at Porter Mills in Beverly MA where we first met.
So you can learn a little more from the artist herself about her work and her inspiration, this is Constance Festo Lafond’s Artist Statement :
“I had an undiagnosed condition called amblyopia, called “lazy eye” affecting depth perception. I had no idea how it influenced my art until at the age of 30 when it was corrected. I was concerned about a shift in my painting style. I happily realized now I could enjoy having two ways of describing the world. Spacial relationships and composition are the filters that I look through. Much of my artistic expression is one of a flattened perspective, highlighting spacial relationships & color. I have expanded my artist expressions to the language of abstraction. My artwork on women’s fashions has been a wonderful way to bring my work to another audience. My Past Purchases from Constance Festo Lafond
Over the past few years, I have acquired quite a few fashion and home decor items based on Connie’s gorgeous paintings. You may remember me writing about my birthday dinner and outfit back in April: the star of the show was the velvet wrap top based on Connie’s painting “Autumn Beauty” here).
Prior to that, I bought one of her lightweight modal scarves/shawl, this one based on her painting “Garden Joy” here.
Because the walls of my house already are covered with art work, I bought a rug for my bedroom fabricated by Society6 based on Connie’s painting “Ocean Waves” here.
Well, since then, Jeff and I have continued to visit Connie in her studio and at exhibits elsewhere. Importantly, she and I have gotten to be friends!

Here’s Connie last weekend at her “shop” at the Open Studios and Artists Fair in Amesbury MA:
I bought another scarf/shawl at Connie’s shop because, not only do I love my first one so much, but I couldn’t resist another scarf that coordinated so well with the sweater I was wearing. Jeff loved the scarf motif and colors, too.
As you can see, Connie likes color, although she also has some items, original paintings and photographs that are more neutral if bright color is not your thing. The velvet wrap top below would be gorgeous for someone to wear for New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, my camera wasn’t able to capture the sheen of the velvet. This top is for sale now from Connie. My cousin took a photo of me wearing the poncho at a family event a few weeks ago. Not sure that I go with the bright red rug, but whatever 😉
All of Connie’s 3 season ponchos are one-size fits all. The poncho is soft and very cozy. I love it!
