Over the past 5 or so years, two of my best of haircare purchases were my Dyson Supersonic hairdryer and my ghd Platinum+ 1″ Flat Iron.
They were certainly not cheap, but they are serving me very well. In fact, they are still going strong! If I amortize the cost over 5 years, they are quite affordable, lol.
Because my old flat iron fried my hair, I had no choice. I needed a new flat iron, and the ghd has a set temperature so I felt confident that I wouldn’t scorch my hair again. Plus, my hair colorist and stylist both recommended the ghd flat iron brand.
Speaking of my stylist, all of the stylists at Vidal Sassoon in Boston use Dyson hair dryers. That’s how I was introduced to Dyson. Honestly, I had a hairdryer that was working fine, but when Ulta had a 20% off sale on hair tools 5 years ago, I decided to go for it. Since using my Dyson, I can dry my thick, coarse hair in 4 minutes. Yes, 4 minutes! I heartily recommend the Dyson.
Since I bought my haircare tools about 5 years ago, I am sure that each of those brands have made improvements and introduced new models.
At any rate, if you need to replace your styling tools, Ulta is having their 20% off sale on hair tools now through Saturday, March 1. Shopping online, use the code TOOLS20. In addition to Dyson and ghd, the sale includes all hair tools sold at Ulta, e.g. Shark Beauty, T3, Babyliss Pro, DryBar, L’Oreal Professionnel, and more.
With so much uncertainty in the world, we may not be shopping for non-necessities all that often, but if you need to replace your hair tools, now’s a smart time to act.

Thank you for the good words about the Dyson! I just purchased a new Dry Bar heat brush yesterday at Ulta and saved $30. I will get the Dyson with the next 20% off coupon. I hope that your week is off to a good start!
That’s wonderful, Denise! Does the DryBar heat brush straighten your hair as you use it? Or do you use it for styling?
