Paula’s Choice Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer Redux

Barrier repair skincare products have been having more than a moment. Their popularity has grown by leaps and bounds. In fact, I’ve used a variety of barrier creams over the past few years, including now that I’ve finished this review, Paula’s Choice Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer (initially reviewed here). I tried the product in the winter of 2023, and I get so many moisturizers to review that I forgot about it. Silly me because it’s a terrific product.

During a fairly recent Paula’s Choice sale, I bought a full size bottle of 7% Ectoin + Hyaluronic Acid Milky Hydrating Serum (reviewed here), I was delighted to receive a free travel size tube of Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer along with the ectoin serum.

Paula’s Choice Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer

Part of Paula’s Choice RESIST collection, Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer is a creamy, nourishing lotion that improves, strengthens, and smooths the skin’s protective barrier. The brand’s literature say that Advanced Moisturizer acts in as little as 30 minutes. The brand goes on to describe the product as follows:

RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer features a specialized moisture complex that delivers water where skin needs it most. A powerful blend of five skin-identical ceramides replenish skin’s barrier, prevent water loss & deliver long-lasting moisture while peptides help support firmness & elasticity. Nourishing watermelon seed oil helps maintain hydration and soothes skin.

Five types of ceramides are the key ingredients of Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer. Ceramides help protect natural collagen levels for firmer-looking skin, and are clinically proven to prevent moisture loss and deliver lasting hydration. A strong skin barrier helps keep moisture in and keep UV rays and pollution out.

Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer is recommended for those with concerns about aging, lack of firmness, and dryness. In addition, it is appropriate for all skin types including those with rosacea and/or sensitive skin since it is packed with soothing ingredients that also address tightness and itchiness. It can be used in conjunction with other anti-aging ingredients such as vitamin C, peptides, niacinamide, retinol, and exfoliating acids.

Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer comes in a full size airless pump bottle with 1.7 fl. oz. priced at $42 as well as in a 0.5 fl. oz. travel size tube priced at $15. It’s sold on the Paula’s Choice website as well as at Sephora, Amazon, and Dermstore.

With spring and summer here and on the way, consider Paula’s Choice Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer. I’ve been using it on warmer days since I received it, and it feels lovely on my skin. The full size bottle is on my list once the weather really warms up around here!
