Geez, this morning I got an email letting me know that NSDB had a new post. Really? Who wrote it?
Then, I clicked on the email and confirmed that no, there were no new posts since last week. This was the second time at least in the past couple of weeks that MailerLite sent out a notice about nothing, no post attached because nothing was written. Grrr.
Sorry about that. I always think that getting those erroneous emails will accelerate the number of readers who unsubscribe, so if you haven’t cancelled, thank you so very much. Honestly, I have so much going on now that I can’t take the time to email MailerLite to let them know.
Quick Update
Last week was a busy week. My family held the funeral for my sweet and well-loved aunt. My cousins (her children) held the shivah (the visitation at the home of the family as well as a religious service where “yahrzeit”, a prayer said in response to someone’s passing, is said by those in mourning).
I also went with Jeff to an important medical procedure that we’ve been waiting for months for him to have. This week, I will go with him to his new doctor to find out the results and next steps for treatment.
I am making progress on clearing out the basement, though I still have more things (my old clothes from my working days in NYC) to dispose of, something that is often difficult for me. We also have some large items that have to be moved out of the basement into the garage while the basement is being renovated, ugh. So far, I’ve given away more than 800 items to the Buy Nothing group in my town, and I have made countless trips to Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Shop, The Second Glance Thrift Shop, and Savers. How did I end up with so much stuff? Next thing is to try to get in touch with the Masons (the organization) in Gloucester MA to find out if I can give them the brass sword that was given to my father when he was in high school and belonged to Demolay, the young men’s leadership division. I hope they’ll take it!
Lastly, I hope all is well with you and yours and that you’re enjoying the summer. At least my garden looks great!

And here’s the shadier side of the garden. The dead branches on the hemlock tree on the upper right make perfect perches for the hummingbirds.
Speaking of hummingbirds, I wanted to show you a video of my favorite hummer who comes almost right up to me and stops, looks me in the eye, and stares at me, lol! Unfortunately, WordPress tells me that my little video exceeds the limits accepted by WP. I’ll have to work on editing it!
