Nope, in spite of the temperature reaching 70 degrees on Tuesday, winter isn’t over yet in the Northeast. My hands show it and feel it. Since I recently finished up my Eucerin Hand Cream, a perfectly good and effective product, I decided to try something new. I bought CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream.
I’ve been using CeraVe for about a week, and it provides immediate results after application. CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream is a fast-absorbing, completely non-greasy formula that feels rich out of the tube but disappears into the skin completely within about a minute.
It provides short-term (at this point) relief for my dry, sometimes chapped and even cracked skin on my hands. I used the word “short-term” because my hands are too often in water, either due to frequent hand-washing or doing the dishes without wearing gloves. Nevertheless, I am hopeful that this hand cream may provide some longer-term care. CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream is formulated with three essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid, vitamins and minerals, and dimethicone to hydrate and strengthen the skin’s barrier so that moisture stays in the skin rather than disappearing.
CeraVe leaves my hands feeling very soft and smooth plus they looked plumper and less dessicated than they did before applying the cream. So far, so good!
The tube of fragrance-free hand cream contains 3 fl. oz. so it’s travel and TSA-friendly. CeraVe sells Therapeutic Hand Cream on their website for $11.99. I bought my tube on Amazon, where it was priced at $10, when I thought I needed another purchase to get free shipping. (P.S. There doesn’t seem to be free delivery anymore unless you’re a Prime member, and I discontinued my membership a year ago. But if you’re willing to pick up your products at Whole Foods, then there is “free shipping” to the store.) CeraVe is widely available, however, at CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart, and supermarkets.
As you can see below, CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream contains methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives. They are usually chosen because of their low toxicity to humans as well as their effective anti-microbial activity. If you avoid parabens, this hand cream isn’t for you.

This is what I’m using. I also bought a smaller one to put in my suitcase for my time in rehab. Unfortunately beside the weather and constant hand washing, my cat often goes to bite me and can sometimes nick my hand. This helps a lot with that.
Marcia, you will have to update me on your “time in rehab”. Are you having surgery soon? At any rate, I’m glad you like this hand cream too. I’m surprised that it works well to soothe cat bites!! (though I can’t believe your new cutie bites the hand that feeds her!)
