Ads for Cocofloss and their toothpastes have been following me around for the past several months. I’ve gone to their website, and I must say I’ve been interested in their organic, fluoride-free products. But I didn’t want to pay for shipping on top of higher prices than I typically pay for “regular” toothpastes.
Last Wednesday, I got my COVID shot as we plan for Thanksgiving travel. I got my flu shot the week before. CVS gives you a $10 off $20 purchase after you get a vaccine, so as I started to leave the store walking down the oral care aisle, I noticed that they carried Cocofloss products. Though I still have a tube and 2/3 left of Sensodyne, I decided to use my $10 off coupon on a tube of Cocoshine Whitening Toothpaste. The pina colada flavor pushed me over the edge to try it.
Typically, I wouldn’t pay $22 for a tube of toothpaste at CVS, but I had a 30% off coupon as well, so I decided this was the time to act.
Cocoshine Toothpaste is described as follows:
- EFFECTIVELY REMINERALIZES WITH NANO-HYDROXYAPATITE: Features ~20% nanoXIM CarePaste from Fluidinova — currently the only nano-hydroxyapatite approved as safe by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) European authorities.
- UP TO 2 SHADES WHITER IN 1 WEEK: n-HA made from the same minerals as your teeth promotes a more reflective shine while baking soda and silica gently remove surface stains. Get brighter, whiter teeth in just 1 week (Intertek Laboratory Report, 8/23/2023).
- CATERS TO THOSE WITH SENSITIVE TEETH: After just 1 day of toothbrushing with Cocoshine, the n-HA fills in the tiny tunnels that lead to your nerves. (Intertek Laboratory Report, 8/25/2023).
- THOUGHTFULLY MADE FORMULA: Every ingredient was chosen for its efficacy, including microbiome-frinedly xylitol, pH-balancing baking soda, soothing aloe vera and more. No triclosan, peroxide, sulfates, parabens, propylene glycol, or artificial dyes.
The toothpaste is a cloudy, somewhat translucent gel. The pina colada flavor is a bit of a disappointment to me because it’s not a strong flavor. Actually, it’s hard to even taste it. And unlike minty toothpastes, it doesn’t leave my mouth feeling as fresh as when I use a mint toothpaste. However, it doesn’t taste bad. It’s just OK.
What I do like a lot about Cocoshine toothpaste is that it leaves my teeth feeling very clean and slick. The toothpaste creates enough foam to help float pieces of food or debris out from the teeth. In fact, I made eggplant, artichoke and fig jam pizza with white sauce from scratch tonight. It was delicious. However, the skin from the eggplant and the seeds from fig jam definitely ended up in my close together teeth. I brushed my teeth with Cocoshine, and they are clean, clean, clean.
I have sensitive teeth, and I’ve been primarily using either Sensodyne or Sensodyne Pronamel for the past several years. I also use Radius. Trying Cocoshine has been great because the 3% nano-hydroxyapatite helps mitigate sensitivity by “filling in the tiny tunnels that lead to (your) nerves”. Well, so far, it’s been working for me.
In addition, nano-hydroxyapatite in conjunction with baking soda and silica remove surface stains on teeth making them look brighter and somewhat whiter even within a week. So far, I would agree with that. While my teeth don’t look like I’ve had them whitened, they do look less yellow than they did a week ago. As I continue using Cocoshine, I am curious to see if they’ll get a bit whiter still.
Like Radius, Cocofloss Cocoshine toothpaste is a natural, non-toxic toothpaste. It doesn’t have fluoride, and as an adult, I believe that I don’t need to use fluoride toothpaste as often as a child may in order to prevent cavities.
So far, in spite of being disappointed by the pina colada flavor, I like Cocoshine toothpaste. It does come in other flavors like Delicious Mint and Lychee Breeze.

On the Cocofloss website, you can get 20% off. Cocoshine toothpaste comes in a 4 oz. tube, and it’s priced at $15 on the Cocofloss website, $13.50 if you subscribe. I forgot that CVS sometimes marks everything up! But it’s also $22 on Amazon.

I don’t think my CVS store is stocking this, but I will double check. I am always on the hunt for a good toothpaste. TY
My CVS is a small store, and I was surprised to see Cocofloss products there. That said, they were placed off to the side on the top shelf to the far left of the mainstream toothpastes. Hope you find it, Barb!
