Just got back from jogging in the beautiful 70° weather this afternoon, and sat down at my desk to check the news on my desktop. I also checked in on Facebook.
I saw a very legit looking “ad” that touted receiving a Sephora mystery box filled with brand name cosmetics in exchange for filling out a survey that she provided the link for. Of course, there were a number of comments from women claiming to have done it and that the box exceeded their expectations. One commenter said that you had to pay $9.50 to cover the shipping to make it sound more legit as well as to flag that you shouldn’t be surprised if they ask for your credit card number!
Facebook truly is the worst company because they will take advertising money from any scammer from anywhere on earth. Do not fall for it. I decided to google “Sephora Mystery Box 2024” to see what would come up.
Someone had posted a question about the Sephora Mystery Box on Reddit on October 16, and a woman who worked at Sephora confirmed that they only sell from their own website. She said they do not run promotions like that on Facebook. She also said that she would alert Sephora Corporate about the hoax. In addition to the post on Reddit, there are about a million others particularly from the Sephora Community forum warning about it. It seems to be a ruse that’s ongoing in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to the ads on Facebook, whoever is doing it also sends out fake emails.
Chances are you already knew about this scam, but just in case I thought I would write about it today as a reminder.
On a different subject, I am waiting for my website/blog to be moved to another server. It was supposed to happen either Wednesday or Thursday night. I need to check in with my web developer and find out if it has happened. Hope so. But till I hear from him, I don’t want to post anything critical that he would have to move to the new website, so that’s why I didn’t post yesterday. I can hardly wait till my tech problems are a thing of the past!

Oh, I haven’t seen that one, Cristina! But I would pass on it. Since they are asking you to pay for shipping, you are giving “them” (whoever they are) your financial info. I feel that usually “there’s no such thing as a free lunch”!
