As the years have gone by, my dry lips have gotten drier. During that time, matte lipsticks have come and, sort of, gone (thank goodness IMHO). Also, by and large, lipsticks have gotten more pigmented, lighter weight and somewhat more lip-friendly, ie more hydrating.

Although Wayne Goss, a British makeup artist who may be somewhat better known for his makeup brushes, has a complete line of makeup products that launched in May 2025. At almost 5 years old, The Luxury Cream Lipstick Collection has grown from 10 to 18 neutral-ish shades that are sold on the Wayne Goss website and Beautylish.com. I discovered the collection almost 4 years ago, and I recommend this line without reservation.

One of the unique benefits of Wayne Goss Luxury Cream Lipstick is that it looks like an opaque lipstick but is a “semi-opaque” lipstick. Letting your natural lip color come through makes the collection rather unique to each wearer. The more color that your own lips have, the more the Luxury Cream Lip reflects you.
The cream-to-silk lipsticks glide onto lips, covering in one swipe. They hydrate lips with a blend of botanical oils, butters, and waxes, making the lipsticks comfortable for me to wear for several hours. The creamy lipsticks give lips a plush, velvety look and feel. Yum.
The lipsticks have no fragrance or taste.
Four years ago, I bought two lipsticks from the Luxury Cream Collection described by Beautylish as:
If you asked me, I would say that:
- Lily is more of a apricot-mauve
- Carnation is more of a pink with reddish/brownish undertones
…but hey, who am I?
Although I wear Lily more frequently especially as an everyday lipstick, I love both of these shades.
Over the past four years, I have almost used up Lily. And sadly, the Carnation bullet broke off the tube, so I have had to apply it with a brush.
When Beautylish had a sale on Wayne Goss makeup during the holidays (50% off!), I decided it was time to replace them. I bought a new Lily because I will probably use up my current tube within a couple of months. And I tossed Carnation and bought a new one. I will be careful not to rise the bullet too much, especially in the hot weather when lipsticks can be more fragile.
I looked at the remaining 16 shades in the lipstick line, but I decided I still liked those two shades, Lily and Carnation, best, although I would have added Zinnia, a redder shade, if it had been in stock. In fact, Zinnia is still sold out on Goss’ website, and Lily is sold out now on the Wayne Goss website.
Wayne Goss The Luxury Cream Lipstick Collection lasts on my lips for several hours (5+) if I don’t eat anything oily or greasy. Works for me!

The Essential Lip Pencil
In addition, I decided to try one of the 8 lipliners from The Essential Lip Pencil Collection. I chose Mauve, deep brown-pink, that works well enough with Lily. The lipliners are priced at $14 on Beautylish and $16 on Wayne Goss.
