Olive and June “Boysenberry Glass” Long-Lasting Polish

I Bought This - Affiliate links

I often apply my nail polish when I go to bed. Kind of a dumb idea, right? Usually I can get away with it, but with jelly polish like Boysenberry Glass, it makes much more sense to use a table and to wear my glasses!

Boysenberry Glass is one of Olive and June’s jelly polishes. Jelly can pool in places on the nail surface, if nails are at an angle. My mani comes out exponentially better if I take it more seriously 😉

Boysenberry Glass, a peach-pink translucent jelly, is the kind of shade that I wear all year round. Because the color isn’t a pastel and isn’t a dark shade, it appears as a neutral on me. It just kind of melds in with whatever I’m wearing or whatever I’m doing.

My Boysenberry Glass Mani

Since I filed my nails about a week ago, I skipped that step this time. Instead, I applied O& J Cuticle Remover and followed up with O&J Hand Treatment.

I started out with a coat of O&J Advanced Nail Strengthener. The Advanced Strengthener works even better for me than the regular O&J Nail Strengthener. It helps prevent chipping and breaking. The Strengthener sinks into the nail, and I find that my nails are never wet after applying it. Maybe that’s why the wide O&J brush splits a bit as I apply the Strengthener. Although I find that a little annoying, the Advanced Nail Strengthener works so well for me that it’s worth a little annoyance.

Next, I applied two coats of O&J Boysenberry Glass. The first time I applied it (in bed), I didn’t apply the second coat evenly on a few of my nails so I applied a third coat just on those nails. Not a good idea. With a regular cream polish, I can do that on occasion, but not with a jelly polish. The result was some nails looked opaque (3 coats), while the two coat nails looked translucent.

I followed up the two coats of polish with a coat of the fabulous O&J Long-Lasting Super Glossy Top Coat. I just love the way my nails look after applying the Super Glossy Top Coat! They look shiny, healthy, and they look almost like a gel mani.

Lastly, I dropped a drop of Dry Drops on each of my nails. With Dry Drops, my nails are dry within minutes! Genius stuff.

I usually get about 10 days from an Olive and June mani, especially if I wear gloves when I’m washing dishes or cleaning. Fingers crossed!

My Latest O&J Haul

During Olive and June’s once a year 25% off sale, I always try to do most of my O&J shopping. Now that O&J is sold at CVS and Walgreens (among other retailers), I can fill in with purchases of treatment products when I run out rather than having to pay for O&J shipping. Sadly, at the local stores, the choice of shades is much narrower than on the O&J website.

I bought 4 Long-Lasting Nail Polishes:

  • Pen Pal: warm cream pink that looks like a pale peach (This was a Limited Edition that is now sold out. Maybe that’s why I bought it?)
  • Boysenberry Glass: cool-toned peach-pink jelly
  • I Mani in Meetings: cool-toned cream midtone mauve
  • On the Promenade: warm-toned shimmery mulberry purple

How odd that 3 of the 4 shades look like spring and summer. Well, that’s me. Nevertheless, I am eager to show you On the Promenade because that one looks perfect for the holidays. (Wouldn’t you know, a new holiday-friendly shade, Budget? What Budget?, an orange-pink duochrome that reads metallic red just caught my eye!)

I also bought another bottle of Advanced Nail Strengthener as well as new Nourishing Non-Acetone Polish Remover Pot with Chamomile and Vitamin E. I received two topcoats as a gift from Olive and June during their sale: Super Glossy and Quick Dry Top Coat.

I think the sale is over, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another flash sale before the holidays. BTW, O&J has the cutest kits for young kids. O&J is 15-free so it’s a good choice for kids as well as adults. I think Jeff’s granddaughter is still a little too young, but maybe next year! At any rate, think Olive and June for stocking stuffers, small or not-so-small holiday gifts!
