I forgot all about Olive and June‘s sole yearly sale around Black Friday when I placed my order for a few polishes a couple of weeks ago. Cookie Swap Long-Lasting Polish
“Cookie Swap” is a limited edition polish, just here for the holiday season.
Olive and June describes it as a “shimmery beige champagne”, and I guess it is sort of a champagne shade, though to me it looks like a pale rose gold. It’s a fun shade because it varies according to the light. Sometimes my nails look bare because the polish looks translucent. Other times, especially in the light, the polish looks metallic and opaque on my nails.
Two coats are required in order to get the full effect. Part of the neutral family, O&J describe the finish as “velvet opaque”. If the light hits my nails in a certain way, velvet opaque is a good way to describe the effect.
Because I haven’t always worn gloves when I washed dishes and clean up the kitchen this past week, and I haven’t had time to apply another coat of Long-Lasting Topcoat every other night as I usually try to do, after wearing the polish for at least a week, I have some chips at the tips. Totally my fault. But because the polish is pale and changes in the light, you can’t see the chips.

Olive and June’s Collections
Olive and June have a couple of new collections of both Long-Lasting and Quick Dry polishes at the present time. Many are shades for the holiday season.
What really surprised me, however, is how many of their existing shades are sold out right now! I guess after a week of their annual sale, a whole bunch of colors are listed as “Sold out. Back Soon”!
O&J New Gel Polishes
Other news from Olive and June includes their brand new line of Gel Polishes. They currently have 26 shades of gel polishes plus Peel Off Base Coat, Base Coat and Top Coat. The Peel Off Base Coat actually makes me want to give it a go in spite of the fact that I almost never wear gels. 😉 They also sell a Gel Mani System that includes their 5 Finger LED Lamp to cure the polish in minutes, plus you get to choose which of their 14 tools you want to include in the Set that you build. In case you don’t buy the Peel Off Base, they sell Salon-Speed Soak-Off Non-Damaging Reusable Removal System, regularly priced at $16.

Olive and June products are vegan and cruelty-free. They also avoid the “no-no” ingredients, so they now call themselves “15-free”.
