While shopping at Sephora to pick up my birthday gift last week, my eyes fell upon a new type of fragrance product. Rare Fragrance Layering Balm. Cool idea that makes sense. We’re often told to apply lotion, cream or oil prior to applying perfume, in order to help it last longer. This idea, that’s part of Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez, is wonderful because it can be worn alone or in conjunction with another fragrance.
The line consists of 4 scented lotions:
- Amber Vanilla
- Floral Peony Blossom
- Woody Oak
- Fresh Bergamot
Not surprisingly, I bought Rare Amber Vanilla since I’m such a fan of amber scents.
The silky white balm — a lightweight lotion that comes in a tube reminiscent of hand cream — sinks into skin and lingers for up to 12 hours. The balm leaves behind a smooth, non-sticky finish.
It smells wonderful on its own, but I think it creates a lovely super “amber-vanilla-spicy” fragrance when I use it as the base for Erbario Toscano Vaniglia Piccante EDP. Yum!
