Today, I was in Boston at Sassoon getting my hair cut and colored. While I was there, it dawned on me that I had a few errands to run. The first errand was another stop into the showroom for Saatva, the mattress brand, to check out their Rx model for back, hip, shoulder etc. problems before I decide on which mattress to buy. After the roof is replaced on my house this weekend and next Monday, I’ll order the new mattress probably in May.

The second errand was stopping into Sephora to replace my purse makeup bag concealer from Bare Minerals that I’ve had for a couple of years. Because it came in a skinny lipstick-like tube, it was perfect for carrying with me. But when I went to use it today after my appointment at Sassoon, what was left of the bullet fell out of the tube and onto the floor. That was that! Frankly, the shade never really suited me because it was too yellow/golden. I walked into Sephora, and I was instantly greeted by the store manager who helped me choose the right shade, this time, from Milk Makeup, a new concealer that’s part of their HYDRO Makeup collection. 

Milk Hydro Grip 12 HR Hydrating Gel Concealer comes in 25 shades. The shade 0.5 that the manager selected for me is a much better match for my skin tone than my broken concealer stick.

The Milk Hydro Grip 12 HR Hydrating Gel Concealer is formulated from a gel-to-cream texture. Not surprising, it feels lightweight because of the gel, creamy because of its ultimate texture, and easy to blend into my skin. I’m curious to see if Milk Hydro Grip 12 HR Concealer will actually last for 12 hours on my skin: I’ll let you know.

$29 for 0.1 oz./3 g. I remembered that Sephora was having its semi-annual sale now. Even though I’ve been demoted to a just plain Sephora VIB Member, I was happy to get 10% off rather than nothing.

Sephora Birthday Gift

Since today is my birthday, I was able to pick my birthday gift. I was given three choices. One was a haircare product that I knew I didn’t need. The other had something to do with makeup (a primer maybe?) and a setting spray that I don’t need. So, I took the Dr. Dennis Gross skincare trio:

• Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel, 2 step peel with 5 AHA/BHAs: This peel sells for $20-155! The sample comes with 3 peels.
• Derminfusions Blur & Repair: Since I bought the pricey product from Il Makiage that’s OK but not terrific, I’ve been eager to try some more similar products. This sample comes in a small tube, but I’m hoping I can get a few usages out of it. The goal of this product is different from the Il Makiage. This one calms redness, hydrates and smooths, and reduces fine lines. It’s also good for skin’s barrier, dryness and loss of firmness. Sounds promising.
• Derminfusions Fill & Repair Serum with Hyaluronic Acid: “An alternative to injectable filler that visibly fills lines, plumps, and firms skin while restoring skin’s moisture barrier function for a more youthful complexion”. Sounds interesting, though I’m sure this one small packet won’t be enough to judge.

I’m eager to try these minis. In fact, tonight I’ll try the Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel. 😀
