Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum

First, my thoughts go out to everyone in Los Angeles who have lost homes or who is waiting to find out if they have to evacuate their homes if the path of the fires change. I can’t even wrap my head around the devastation.

In my last two Ipsy/Boxycharm boxes, I received Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum. I was eager to try it ‘coz who can’t use some collagen boosting? As I recently mentioned in one of my posts, collagen levels begin to decrease during out 20s!

Previously, I was not familiar with Sonage. Its name comes from the phrase in French: “bien porter son age” that translates as “to look good for one’s age” or specifically, “to wear his/her age well”.

Sonage is a cruelty-free, PETA certified, vegan, and natural brand.

Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum is described as:

“Collagen helps to promote collagen synthesis and moisture retention – it works as a great humectant to bind and hold water to skin for enhanced moisturization. While plumping the skin to fill lines and wrinkles, this intensive ingredient boosts elasticity and firmness to rejuvenate for younger looking skin. As collagen primarily works to improve skin hydration, it fortifies the skin barrier to protect from free radical damage.”

To make a long story short, Collagen Boosting Serum hydrates and improves skin texture, elasticity and firmness. Actually, just what I am usually looking for in facial skincre products.

Key ingredients in the serum include:

  • Vegan Collagen: Infused hydration for plump, firm skin, minimizes the appearance of pores
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: Improves hydration, increases appearance of plumping and firmness of skin, UVA and UVB photo-protectant
  • Marula oil: Non-comedogenic antioxidant with moisturizing and soothing properties
  • Bergamot Oil: Reduces appearance of skin discoloration, vibrant scent with citrus and floral notes
  • Patchouli Oil:  Uplifting aromatherapy benefits, improves hydration
  • Cedarwood Atlas Oil: Rich, woody scent with clarifying properties

I think that Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum is a product that Boxycharm chose for me. In fact, I never checked the ingredients till after I used the serum.

Once I pumped out a few drops of Collagen Boosting Serum, I was surprised at the aroma. To me, it smelled like patchouli. I figured I should still try it, and so I continued to put it on my face. Not surprisingly, my sensitive eyes revolted!

The scent isn’t long lasting once it’s on my skin, but it’s strong enough that even the few seconds is too much for me.

As much as I love fragrance, I don’t love scented facial skincare products as a rule. And I don’t look for my facial skincare products to provide me with aromatherapy benefits. Sadly, Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum is not for me.

Today, I posted the serum on my local Buy Nothing group, and so far, there are three women who are interested in trying it. I made it clear that it smells of patchouli.

Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum comes in three sizes:

  • 7.5 ml: $24
  • 15 ml: $48
  • 30 ml: $68

I have no idea if Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum would have a positive effect on my skin because I only used it twice. But I am writing about it today to let readers know that it is a highly fragranced facial serum that may not be right for everyone. On the other hand, if you’re a fan of patchouli and can wear it successfully, check out Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum. 😉
