After I went to the Ipsy website to select my products for May, I was taken to the Shop pages, my favorite place on the Ipsy site. Somehow, I had a $3.50 credit so I perused the first couple of pages of products. Tatcha The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 stood out to me. I love Tatcha products, and the fact that is a sunscreen balm as well as the deeply discounted price made it a must-have. Good thing I acted when I did because it’s gone now!
I chose the Tatcha Lip Tint SPF 25 in Camellia, a soft sheer-ish red, making it perfect for every day wear especially now that I’m outdoors more often.
My Ipsy/Boxycharm box arrived a few days ago, and I went right for the Tatcha Kissu Lip Tint. It comes in an elegant, slim, ivory metal tube with gold Japanese-inspired elements on the top and surrounding the opening.
To use the lip tint, turn the bottom while holding the neck. The bullet is slanted to make application a breeze. And the good news is that turning the bottom in the opposite direction brings the bullet back down in the tube so it can’t be broken off. As much as I love my RMS Legendary Serum Lipsticks, once you turn the bottom to bring up the bullet, it does not go back down again. I prefer this traditional tube so much more!
Tatcha Lip Tint SPF 25 is a lip balm with sunscreen, so I consider it a win-win. It protects my lips from UVA/UVB rays and it helps them retain moisture. Because it feels creamy and so hydrating on my lips, it’s a pleasure to wear. It’s not at all sticky or glossy. I would say it has a satiny finish. It has no taste or scent.
Camellia, the soft red tint, looks more like a rose color (pink-red) than bright red on my lips. It’s very natural-looking, and I think it’s a flattering shade for my cool, fair/light skin tone.
There are two other shades: Plum Blossom (sheer pink) and Midnight Lily (dark berry).
Tatcha The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 doesn’t stain my lips or leave color behind. The shades are buildable, and because I like more color, I swipe it across my lips two or three times to achieve a deeper shade. It lasts for a couple of hours on me, and then I need to swipe it on again. But sunscreen needs to be reapplied every couple of hours anyway, so it’s no big deal.
The key ingredients are:
- UV filters to protect lips from photoaging
- Plant-based lanolin
- Silk proteins (a staple in many Tatcha products).
It’s formulated without fragrance, mineral oil, sulfates, detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA, or phthalates.

The regular price for Tatcha The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 is $34, not cheap but Tatcha is a luxury, high quality brand. Tatcha is sold on the Tatcha website and at Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Amazon. Right now (Sunday night), Rakuten is offering 20% cash back on purchases from the Tatcha website. However, Amazon currently has the best price at $23.80.
