Two Products From BoxyCharm/Ipsy: Glow Recipe & pinklipps

I Bought This - Affiliate links

This month, I actually got a good box from BoxyCharm/Ipsy! It arrived on Monday, and so far, I have used two of the products that I’ll tell you about today:

  • Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment
  • pinklipps Lip Sleeping Mask, Cherry

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment

I’ve wanted to try some products from Glow Recipe for the longest time. This month, I finally got a chance to try one: Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment. The key ingredient is 2.5% pH balanced AHA as well as Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide and natural extracts.

I couldn’t wait to try it. So that night I cleansed my skin and applied some of the pale pink liqui-gel to my face, avoiding my eye area. It goes on wet, and within a couple of minutes, it dries down.

When I woke up the next morning, my skin felt very dry and tight in spite of the fact that, in addition to being an exfoliator, it was supposed to be a hydrating mask. Hmmm.

I made a decision that instead of using it as a sleeping mask, I will apply it like a traditional mask leaving it on for about 20 minutes. The air in my house and my skin are so dry that leaving AHA on for hours is a mistake. Nevertheless, if you have combination or oily skin, leaving it on all night shouldn’t be a problem. Perhaps in the summer, I can try it again overnight. But for now, I will use it once a week for 20 minutes, and afterwards remove it and apply a hydrating serum and moisturizer.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment comes in two sizes: mini 25 ml for $21 and full-size (the size I received) 60 ml/2.02 fl. oz. for $48. BTW, the product and the entire watermelon collection is streamlined and simple. To me, it’s the Quince of skincare.

Ingredients: Water, Propanediol, C9-12 Alkane, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Sea Water, Glycolic Acid*, Lactic Acid*, Sodium Hyaluronate, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Lactobacillus/Watermelon Fruit Ferment Extract, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Leuconostoc Ferment Filtrate, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Sodium PCA, Saccharide Isomerate, Hydroxyacetophenone, Polysorbate 60, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Sodium Lactate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Disodium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (100% naturally derived)

pinklipps Cherry Lip Sleeping Mask

In spite of my attachment to City Lips Clear to hydrate my lips while I sleep, I was intrigued by pinklipps Lip Sleeping Mask. Although I wish that it came in “Clear” for overnight use, the Cherry color is actually beautiful.

The mask itself is thick and cushiony, and it stays put on my lips. With Hyaluronic Acid, peptides and nourishing oils, the mask does a great job plumping and healing my winter dry lips.

In some ways, it seems stupid to me to waste red lip gloss/balm to wear to sleep. So I will go back to City Lips Clear at night and wear pinklipps Cherry Lip Sleeping Mask during the day. In addition, pinklipps can be used underneath other lipstick to hydrate and protect lips by blotting the mask/gloss.

pinklipps Cherry Lip Sleeping Mask comes in a thick plastic pot. The website shows it being used with a spatula, but there wasn’t a spatula in my Ipsy box. Since I have loads of spatulas, I use my own.

pinklipps Lip Sleeping Mask is priced at $18. First time purchasers can save 20% by providing their email. Shipping is free.

The pinklipps brand is vegan, cruelty-free, and African-American owned.

I love this product, but I wish they would introduce a clear product for true bedtime use!

I can’t wear a lip mask at night. Every tiny thing keeps me up so this would too. But I’d use it in the morning.
