To be honest, I’ve been using up so many cosmetics this year, that I have found writing my Project Pan mini-reviews to be daunting. I split my May Project Pan into two parts, but I never got around to writing the second part. The first part was skincare empties, and you can read it here.
Well, as we are now in November, and I’m months behind, here’s the second part of May!
With 18 total empties in May, you can see why I haven’t felt that writing my Project Pan!
Bath & Body Empties
- City Beauty Restoring Hand Treatment: City Beauty Restoring Hand Treatment is a nice hand cream: light, greaseless, fast absorbing. It did make the skin on my hands feel softer and smooth temporarily. However, it was unable to restore the skin on my mature hands. The dark spots and thinning skin are still there. So, if you are younger than I, it may be worth the investment. Otherwise, I would pass on this pricey product. Recommend? No, they make other products that I prefer.
- South of France Orange Blossom Honey Foaming Liquid Soap: This foaming hand wash was in my bathroom on the first floor for ages. Nevertheless, it smelled very nice and didn’t dry out my hands after use. It is also very affordable. After a strange lawsuit over their name, South of France Bodycare did agree to change their name to SOF Bodycare. Recommend? Yes. And it comes in a variety of scents.
- Ulta Beauty Sugared Vanilla Scented Foaming Hand Wash: This foaming hand wash was in my master bathroom, so I used it more frequently. I bought it during one of Ulta’s sales to get free shipping. It replaced my preferred Ulta scent, pineapple. The sugared vanilla scent was fairly strong, and it did linger on my hands for a few minutes. Nevertheless, that didn’t bother me. Like the SOF foaming liquid soap, it cleaned well and didn’t dry out my skin. Recommend? Yes, and there are a variety of fragrances.
Health & Beauty
- Mitchum Shower Fresh Gel Antiperspirant: When I was younger, I used to perspire a lot. Mitchum used to be the Super Hero of antiperspirants, and it was priced like that. Lately, Mitchum has been relegated to the lower shelves at CVS etc. and it’s priced at the lower end of the antiperspirants. I have also found that it doesn’t seem to work quite as well as it used to, though I no longer perspire as much. At any rate, it’s no longer my first choice when I choose to use an antiperspirant. Recommend? If you don’t already have a favorite brand of antiperspirant, it’s worth a try. When I went onto their website, it looks like they have updated the product by changing the packaging and by making a stronger 48 hour variety. I will have to try that one 😀
- Just CBD Hemp Infused Gummies, Bears 1000mg CBD: Yes, I still love CBD gummies from Just CBD to help me sleep, though I take fewer of them now that I have Bon Patch Sleep patches. Recommend? Yes, for those who like CBD gummies (without THC) for relaxation and/or sleep.
Makeup
- Scorobrow Eyebrow Growth Serum: Actually, it’s taken a long time, like over a year of haphazard use, but Scorobrow has begun to work on my brows. You’re supposed to apply it twice a day, and I probably apply it two or three times a week, once a day. So, if you decide to give it a try, use it according to their directions rather than the way I do, :). Recommend? Hmm, I think it’s worth a try.
- PrimeLash Mascara: PrimeLash Mascara is advertised as an alternative to Thrive Causemetics. Both are tubing mascaras that give lashes a visible boost in terms of lengthening, volumizing, and darkening. I like Thrive Causemetics, and I thought it was worth trying its “competitor”. PrimeLash also touts that it’s good for mature women. To be honest, it didn’t work for my lashes at all. Though it did darken and volumize my lashes, it clumped on my lashes. It also frequently flaked and made me look like I had very noticeable black circles under my eyes. Stupidly, I ordered two tubes in order to save on shipping. I gave the second tube to a friend to try, but when I asked her about whether she liked it, she said she hadn’t opened it yet. Recommend? It’s hard to say. It absolutely did not work for me, but others online absolutely love it and sometimes prefer it to Thrive. Go figure.
Haircare
- It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product: I’ve been using It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product for years, probably at least a decade or more. I use it to minimize the damage that blow-drying and flat-ironing can do to my hair. I also use it because it’s supposed to protect hair from UV damage. Because my red hair fades so quickly from UV rays as well as from shampooing, I don’t know how much good it does in stopping the color fading but what the heck! Recommend? Yes, I just bought two more bottles: the 4 oz. size and a larger size with Keratin to try that out.
Fragrance
- Pura Diffuser Fragrance Refill, Archipelago Kashmir: Scent is always a matter of personal preference. Kashmir from Archipelago with notes of vanilla, orange blossom and sandalwood is my favorite Pura diffuser fragrance to date. I think I’m on my third little bottle. Unfortunately, Pura doesn’t seem to carry it now, though they have other Archipelago scents. Archipelago carries Kashmir diffuser oil in a larger bottle that is appropriate for wooden diffuser sticks. Hmmm, maybe I will try that next. Recommend? If you like rich, spicy scents like I do, then certainly give it a try.
Project Pan Update
It’s embarrassing that I am so far behind on Project Pan. Maybe after all these years, I’m just sick of doing it. Perhaps I will give it some thought and take next year off? I’ll see if I get 2025 finished first!
In May 2025, I used up 18 beauty products. I ended April with a total of 41 empties for 2025. Adding 18 empties from May brings me up to 59 empties. Yay. Hopefully, I’ll start on June empties very soon.
How about you? Have you been keeping track of which beauty products you’ve used up lately? Do let me know about your favorites. 😀

Lately I used up one of my very favorite products but it’s sadly discontinued. It’s a blush stick from Charlotte Tilbury in a cherry shade. Their new version is just okay but it’ll never be the original. I haven’t kept a list but I’ve tossed several mascaras for time and/or goopiness. And I finished a PTR sunscreen deluxe mini.
Oh, boo, I am sorry to hear about the cherry blush from CT being discontinued. That’s so annoying! I am wracking my brain, but what is PTR??? Remind me!
I love your reviews! I agree with you so often and I truly appreciate your integrity!
Thank you xoxoxoxo
Hi, Allison – Project Pan is very helpful, so I think you should keep it! I’m wondering about the Scorobrow. Since it was working for you despite the low amount of use, I would try it if it is safe for sensitive skin. Do you know? Thanks – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
Thank you, Angie! Scorolash and Scorobrow are designed to be safe for sensitive skin because they have no prostaglandins. Here’s the ingredient list for the brow serum: Aqua, Hyaluronate, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Pentylene Glycol, Panax Ginseng Extract, Swertia Japonica Extract, Panthenol, Pumpkin Seed Extract, Acorus Calamus Root Extract, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Oligopeptide-10, Tocopherol
