After trying Harper Wilde’s Mesh Bra, I decided to try a very similar model from CUUP. The main difference, from what I could tell, was that the back closure on the CUUP model had two hooks and was narrower than the three hook wider band on the Harper Wilde. That difference made it worthwhile for me to try.
During a holiday sale, I purchased CUUP The Plunge Mesh Bra in Mediterranea, a deep green-blue color, in my normal size 36C. I read all the reviews on that particular model before purchasing, and I ignored the advice of some of the reviewers. They said that the CUUP bras ran small, and that sizing up was a good idea. I took the quiz via True Size on the website, and the algorithm confirmed my normal size.
The bra was delivered by FEDEX in less than a week. When it arrived on Sunday, I immediately opened the package and tried it on. Sadly, the reviewers were 100% correct. It was definitely too small. Not only was the band too small, but as a result, the left cup was also too small. Even though it was a very nice bra, especially in the color I chose, it didn’t make sense to keep it. Boo.
The next morning, I called Customer Service at CUUP and spoke to a young woman who explained their procedure that I had also read on the website. You could return items, but they charged a $10 restocking fee. Uh, no, not for an item that cost $36.75 (PS The regular price is $68, though Mediterranea is now $49). I said I didn’t want to lose more than 25% of the purchase in fees, so I would exchange it for a larger size. Unfortunately, they didn’t have The Plunge Mesh in a 38C in any color. Boo, again. I decided to order the 38D in Mediterranea because that was the only option. I asked her what I could do if that didn’t fit? She said that I could return it and get full credit as an “exception” to their policy.
The turnaround was very quick. I brought the bra to Staples for return to CUUP. On Wednesday, I received the new bra in 38D. The CUUP band size 38 definitely fit me, so remember to size up on the band. The D cup was a little large but because the bra is mesh, it worked. And I still prefer the two hook closure to Harper Wilde’s three hooks.
Problem solved well enough. Next time, I will believe the reviews. In the future during another sale, I may try CUUP The Plunge Mesh again in 38C. It’s a well-made quality bra. Even the adjustable hardware for the straps are very well-made.
And their Customer Service was accommodating.
However, I just checked the CUUP website just three days later, and the 38C The Plunge Mesh Bra in Mediterranea is now in stock. Go figure! Too bad I have already worn the D cup bra. 🙁
