Disappointed in Dr. Perricone

Though I’ve never been a big fan of Perricone MD skincare products, when I came across Eyelid Lift Serum at Marshall’s, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to try it. The usual price of Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum is usually $129 for 0.5 fl. oz., while the price I paid at Marshall’s was $16.99. Before I purchased the product at Marshall’s, I searched the box for an expiry date, but there was none. 

As you may know, I have been using eyelid lift serum from Korres Black Pine Collection and from Kat Burki religiously for several years, and I have been very satisfied with the results. I thought I should try the Perricone MD eye serum as well to see how it compared to the other two.

Packaging and Serum

The Perricone MD serum comes in a brown glass bottle with a dropper, a simpler, easily recyclable package compared to the dosing glass bottle from Kat Burki and the complex dosing apparatus from Korres. The Perricone MD solution is a cloudy white serum, and the OG dropper can be a little difficult to use. Sometimes the dropper doesn’t take up any serum, while other times it takes up too much. But not a huge problem.

I believe that all three of the serums are cloudy white fragrance-free serums that absorb into the skin quickly.

Key Ingredients

Each of the three eye serums uses different key ingredients. You can read about Korres Black Pine 360 Eye-Lift Super Serum here and Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum here. Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum uses two new-to-me key ingredients:

• Acyl-Glutathione: Perricone MD describes Acyl-Glutathione as “The Master Antioxidant”, the body’s primary antioxidant composed of three amino acids. Because the level of glutathione decreases over time, a topical application of glutathione can help appear smoother and younger-looking.
• Vitamin F Blend: Vitamin F is a blend of essential fatty acids that is not found naturally in the human body. In the Perricone MD Eyelid Lift Serum, the Vitamin F Blend is derived from flax, chia and macadamia seed oils. The benefit of Vitamin F Blend is strengthening the skin’s moisture barrier and promotes skin suppleness.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Propanediol, Pantethine, Glycerin, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, S-Palmitoylglutathione, Dimethyl MEA, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Acetyl Tyrosine, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Xanthan Gum, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica Seed Oil, Silica Cetyl Silylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491)

Benefits

The benefits that Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum promises include minimizing the look of drooping, sagging lids by visibly smoothing eyelid creases, crepiness and uneven skin texture. These are the same benefits promised by the other eyelid serums I have been using.

My Experience with Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum

Sadly, Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum has not worked for me. In fact, the morning after using Perricone MD, my eyelids are very droopy and crepey. I was shocked by this disappointing result because my eyelids never look like that when I use the Korres or Kat Burki serum. The Perricone MD website shows before and after results after 8 weeks. To be honest, I am not waiting 8 weeks so see if the Perricone MD serum kicks in because neither of the other two serums I’ve been using required anything like 8 weeks to show results. Frankly, my usual faves showed immediate results.

So What’s Going On?

I noticed that even though Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Eyelid Lift Serum is still sold on the Perricone MD website as well as on Amazon and other sites like Lookfantastic.com and Lovelyskin, it is deeply discounted. In fact, it has been replaced by a new eyelid lift serum, Perricone MD Neuropeptide Eyelid Lift Serum with a vastly different ingredient list but at the same $129 price.

At any rate, I will give up on the Perricone MD product, and go back to my usual favorites. Glad I only paid $16.99 for this soon to be discontinued product.
