First Aid Beauty Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant

Spring often means a change in my skincare routine. For one thing, I spend a lot of time working in my gardens, and I am often covered with dirt at the end of the day. This year is no different. Today, I mowed the lawn (although Jeff did half this time), and trimmed with a hand trimmer all around the lawn. Then I planted a lot of veggies in big pots for outdoor growing.

Although I’m still using b. glen QuSome NanoOff Gel Cleanser in the morning, I’ve switched my nighttime cleanser to First Aid Beauty Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant.

Although the key ingredients are somewhat different, this cleanser reminds me of Tatcha The Rice Powder that I also like a lot. Both products are ultra-fine powder-to-foam cleansers, i.e. add water to the powder and it foams up and actually becomes lotion-y. FAB Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant uses corn and tapioca starches,

instead of Tatcha’s rice starch to create the powder. The powders made from natural starches are very gentle especially after mixing with water that transforms the powder into foam. My skin is somewhat sensitive, but the foam exfoliates and cleanses my skin very gently. In fact, because of its jojoba esters and other hydrating ingredients, my skin is left clean, smooth, and velvety, never tight or stripped.

BTW, the cleanser/exfoliator is unscented.

FAB Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant ameliorates dullness, brightens skin, and overtime may help fade some dark spots through vitamin C and other ingredients that contain vitamin C:

  • pomegranate extract
  • cranberry
  • and vitamin C itself.
Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Maltodextrin, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium MyristoylGlutamate, Calcium Carbonate, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Powder, Citric Acid, Tapioca Starch, Tricalcium Phosphate, Silica, Ascorbic Acid, Jojoba Esters, Phenoxyethanol, Butylene Glycol, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77499)

FAB Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant comes in a cool 2 oz. canister. Once you take the cap off, you twist the top to reveal either one or two openings to pour out as much powder as you prefer. I wet my hands and open only one of the openings because I find I don’t need too much, somewhere between a dime and a quarter’s worth. I pour it into one of my hands, and then I foam up the powder by rubbing my hands together. Then I apply it to my face and neck and massage it by making circles on my skin. Next, I rinse with warm or cool water. All clean, all done.

Available on the FAB website, Brightening Micro Powder Exfoliant is also available on Amazon and Walmart.com. The price is $32 for 2 oz. On Walmart.com, it can be a couple of dollars less. Because it was sold/given as part of their boxes on Ipsy, you can find it on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari where it’s resold at deep discounts.

Oh, and comparing the FAB cleanser/exfoliant powder to Tatcha, I’d say for me, it’s FAB for the win. I find that both brands work the same way and give me the same result. However, FAB gives me 2 oz. for $32 while Tatcha gives me 0.5 oz. for $22. With FAB, I get 4 times as much powder for a lot less money than the same amount from Tatcha would cost!

Do you switch up your cleansing routine for spring/summer? Have you tried powder-to-foam cleansers/exfoliators?
