Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara

A couple of months or so ago, I felt the need to try some new mascaras. Not long ago, I reviewed the first mascara I tried: Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara. I liked it. You can read my review here. After 3 months, the mascara got thick in the tube, and I know at 3 months of age, it’s time to toss the mascara.

So, I moved on to the second travel size mascara that I bought on that shopping trip. Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. 

Try as I might, I couldn’t get Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara to work for me. My lashes had no volume except when a couple of the lashes stuck together. And my lashes weren’t particularly long. Frankly, Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara was a complete disappointment for me. I thought maybe it was because I waited about 3 months to try the mascara, but since I hadn’t opened it, it should have still be fresh enough. Oh well, at least I bought a travel size.

Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara was supposed to be:

• buildable: it wasn’t. I was unable to apply more coats to my crispy lashes because the mascara dried so quickly.
• flake-free: it was especially since there wasn’t much mascara on my lashes.
• 99% naturally derived, made with natural waxes such as organic shea butter for lash conditioning and Arginine to fortify lashes: the natural waxes seemed to impede the volumizing and lengthening of my lashes. Disappointing.
• the hourglass wand has two sides to lift and separate lashes: the wand was OK, but it wasn’t really the wand’s fault. I think the wand didn’t knock my socks off because the formula itself didn’t work for me.

I usually gravitate toward lengthening mascaras, and Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara is “an award winning, clean, lengthening mascara”. I didn’t find that it lengthened my lashes because it didn’t deposit much color…at all.

I bought the Soft Black shade called After Midnight. It also comes in Rich Brown called Before Dawn. I bought the mini size, 0.1 oz./3 g for $16. The full size tube contains 0.27 oz./8 g for $29.00. I would be truly ticked off if I spent $29 for the full size!

My recommendation is pass on Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. There are plenty of other mascaras out there, including Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara.
