Ipsy/Boxycharm May 2025 “Born to Bloom”

I Bought This - Affiliate links

My May ’25 Boxycharm box is a combo of makeup and skincare. Here’s what I got:

Makeup

  • Mally Evercolor Cheek Stick, shade On the Mauve: I’ve had a couple of Mally powder blush compacts, and they’ve been really good: deep colors that are long wearing. So I was happy to get their cream blush or Cheek Stick. I’m all about mauve, so I was pleased with the color. In addition to the mauve color, it leaves a luminous glow as you can sort of see in the swatch below. The stick format is great for travel or at home use.

  • blinc Amplified Tubing Mascara: I haven’t had a chance to try blinc yet, but I’m looking forward to using it. PrimeLash was such a major disappointment to me because it left big black spots under my eyes. I had to throw out the first tube, but I still have one tube left, ugh. So I am eager to try blinc instead! I’ll let you know. blinc has been around for quite a while, but I think the tubing mascara is new.
  • Ace Beaute Hydrating Face Primer: I like the Ace Beaute facial masks that I’ve tried, so I will certainly give their Hydrating Face Primer a try. The white, fragrance-free cream disappears completely into my skin leaving a smooth and soft canvas behind. Although Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas is my favorite hydrating face primer to date, it’s very pricey, so I would be pleased if Ace Beaute’s primer is a good and more affordable alternative. However, when I looked up Ace Beaute Hydrating Face Primer on their website, it looks like products come and go rapidly on their site. Weird.

Skincare

How did I end up with two facial oils? One of them was chosen for me by Boxycharm, and the second one, I chose because it was seemingly the most useful of the few alternative products I was allowed to select from.

  • Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Oil: I think this was the product that was chosen for me, and it’s a fairly expensive one at $75. But I am looking forward to trying it because it’s a lifting oil. I’m all about lifting!
  • Purlisse Glow Revival Facial Oil: I chose this one because I like Purlisse skincare products. I’m not sure about “Glow Revival” because that usually means leaving skin with a dewy finish, but maybe I am wrong. This oil contains algae oil and violet leaf oil, and the product benefits are listed as: 1) promoting skin elasticity, and 2) helping to even out skin tone. Gee, sounds promising!

Initial Thoughts

Although I haven’t had a chance to try all of the new-to-me products in my Boxycharm box yet, I think it’s definitely a decent box. I needed the mascara. I like the blush especially for everyday. I am very curious about the hydrating face primer, since it disappears so quickly and thoroughly on my skin. I wonder if it will hydrate enough to prevent my foundation from showing all my lines and wrinkles? I’ll let you know!

I have about a million different facial oils, but I am an oil fan. We’ll see if either of these oils is a keeper.

Sounds like a good selection. I love the Ace Beaute eyeshadows and lip pencil that I have, so I’m sure that primer will be great. That blush sure is pretty!

    1. Oooooh, you have tried the eyeshadows! Very cool. I went to the Ace Beaute website and looked for a couple of masks that I liked as well as the blush I just got. I didn’t realize that products didn’t last long on the Ace website. One and done, I guess.

This is a good box. The cheek stick would be a pleasure to own. And Blinc is a great brand.

    1. The Mally cheek stick is wonderful. But upon trying it, the Blinc tubing mascara not so much for my lashes, though it may work for you.
