Speaking of City Beauty, New Brightening Eye Cream

City Beauty recently launched a new eye cream, and just in time for me, too! I’m almost out of my jar of (pH)ix cucumber-scented, blue caffeine eye cream after at least a year (originally reviewed here). I made a “smooth” transition to fragrance-free, off-white, lightweight City Beauty Brightening Eye Cream

Here’s the product description:

Brightening Eye Cream is an antioxidant-rich formula that reduces the look of under-eye puffiness, diminishes the appearance of dark circles, and helps visibly smooth fine lines. Its soothing, revitalizing ingredients also help shield against environmental stressors that accelerate visible signs of aging.

Key Ingredients

  • Caffeine: This antioxidant-rich ingredient diminishes the look of puffiness for a more refreshed appearance.
  • Arnica Flower Extract: This soothing ingredient helps lock in moisture and reduce the look of dark circles.
  • Ginkgo Biloba Extract: Enhances the look of skin elasticity to help visibly firm and smooth wrinkles.
Like many depuffing eye creams, City Beauty contains caffeine. Arnica is well-known for soothing inflammation while it softens and hydrates skin, while Gingko Biloba is a powerful antioxidant as well as an anti-inflammatory that works as a vasodilator, opening the blood vessels to allow the nutrients in the blood and oxygen to flow through to the skin cells. In the full ingredient list, there are other antioxidants among the herbal ingredients as well as ceramide to strengthen the skin’s barrier and sodium hyaluronate to attract and keep moisture in.

I don’t have undereye bags, so I can’t speak about the depuffing benefit. I use it on the thin skin under my eyes that allows the darkness to show through, ugh. I like this new eye brightening cream from City Beauty because it has the “trompe-l’oeil” sheen that my old discontinued favorite that Shiseido Brightening Eye Cream had. Yay!

I never understood why a company would use fragrance in their eye care. I’m glad to hear about this new
    eye cream.

    1. I get the cucumber scent that (pH)ix has since cucumber has been a long time at home treatment for eyes, but I really do agree that all eye skincare (and facial skincare too!) should be fragrance-free.
