While I was doing some holiday shopping in December, I picked up a few products that I was curious about. One of them was Cocokind Retinol Body Cream. I’ve been meaning to try Cocokind for a long time, but I have been so stocked with skin and body care products that I put it off.
Cocokind’s Background
Truthfully, I was confused about the relationship between Cocokind and Cocoshine. Actually, there is none. They are two separate brands with different ownership, though both are committed to better for you products and ingredients.
Founded in 2014 by Priscilla Tsai, Cocokind is a skincare brand that emphasizes plant-powered, conscious, sustainable and affordable skincare. The brand’s products that focus on barrier support and that are good for sensitive skin. The brand is cruelty-free.
In terms of being a “conscious” brand, Cocokind impressed me because they break down the roles and percentage of the ingredients within each product, e.g. humectant, emollient, preservatives, emulsifiers, carriers etc. I was truly surprised by that. I’ve never seen another brand provide that information.
In addition, Cocokind tries to provide packaging that respects the earth, e.g. the plastic cap on the Body Cream “reduces plastic by 55%” (though it is quite thin and I hope it doesn’t break off!).
Cocokind Retinol Body Cream
Cocokind Retinol Body Cream is a lightweight cream that contains 0.05% retinol, ceramide, shea butter, plant-derived squalane, Vitamin E, and more. The 0.05% retinol is gentle enough that it can be used safely even by those with sensitive skin.
Retinol Body Cream provides a variety of skincare benefits for the body:
- helps skin look firmer
- improve the look of uneven skin tone and texturte
- reduces body acne or breakouts
- restores moisture by rebuilding skin’s barrier, helping skin look and feel supple
- absorbs quickly and is non-greasy.
Here is its complete ingredient list:
Ingredients: water (aqua) (eau), cetearyl alcohol, coco-caprylate/caprate, propanediol, squalane, dicaprylyl ether, glycine soja (soybean) oil, cetearyl glucoside, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, retinol, tocopherol, tocopheryl acetate, ceramide np, rice ferment filtrate (sake), lactic acid, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, sodium stearoyl glutamate, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate, sodium hydroxide
My Experience with Retinol Body Cream So Far
The first time I used Cocokind Retinol Body Cream, my skin felt like as soft and smooth as silk. Honestly, I was convinced that there must be dimethicone in the ingredient list (there isn’t!). It feels divine!
As I mentioned above, the cream is lightweight.
Nevertheless, it is hydrating, and it makes my skin look less “drawn” while making it feel plumper. My skin’s texture is improved because the dry lines that I often see on my arms and legs disappear after applying the cream.
In terms of providing a more even skin tone, I haven’t seen those results as yet. Frankly, I have so much sun damage, I doubt it would be possible to fade my dark spots. Oh well, if I only knew way back then, what I know now about the effects of the sun!
Cocokind Retinol Body Cream is fragrance-free, vegan and non-comedogenic.
I’ve been using this body cream just for a few weeks, but I’m impressed. Just the feel of my skin alone is enough to keep me using it.
Retail Info
So, I bought Cocokind Retinol Body Cream at Marshall’s. I understand that it’s a leftover from somewhere. But for $6.99, it was well worth trying. Although the regular price is $21 for 8 fl. oz., I believe I would pay that for silky, smooth and firmer looking skin.
Cocokind Retinol Body Cream can be reliably purchased on the Cocokind website, at Ulta and Amazon. At Ulta, you can use their coupons to get money off, yay.

It’s always good to find a body cream that works well and is good for us no the planet!
